It’s the right call. Craw will rematch Spence, then the only worthy fight for him at 147 anyway is boots (which would still be undisputed), but craw will likely move to 154. (And is talking about 168)

Can’t have a talent like boots waiting for crumbs while the belts are tied up in needless rematches (still a good rematch but hardly a nessasary one)

Question: if the IBF thought there was more chance of the sanctioning fees coming from the undisputed champ’s defences than getting the fees from a vacant title match, would they pull this shit?

Answer: Because Traditionally IBF have shown backbone and enforced title defences.

Hasnt been a 147 IBF mandatory in over 5 years i think....

add in that boots has won an interim then gone to defend it. (this happens but shouldent, if you win an interim your next fight should be for the real belt weather against the champ or vacant.)

Add in that craw is fighting a rematch from a clear win (in the contract but thats the cost of rematch clauses).

Add into that after craw vs spence the winner is unlikely to defend it vs boots and will probably go to 154 (or higher).

Boots has done his part, played the rules, so he gets the belt. might be the best? might not be... belts are arbitrary, craw became a champ for beating jeff horn remember.

I agree that fighters get stripped if they don't defend their belt.
But they shouldn't just give it to the highest ranked contender. IBF should organise a fight for the vacant world title between Boots and some other top 10 contender who wants to take a shot.
Let them battle for it.

It's almost impossible to hold on to 3 belts for a long period of time.

Nobody should just get given a belt. You should have to fight somebody for it.

Since the lawsuit in the early 2000@ (where they were accused of bribery), the ibf plays it according to their bylaws. They have a mandatory, they have a time restriction, and if you dont fight it they strip you.

2020, 2021, 2022, 2023....................every one of these years craw has only fought once. hopefully he breaks that in 2024 and at least fights twice
