in terms of achievements, Roberto :a 33 year career over 5 decades, world titles in 4 different divisions is something Chavez and Monzon could not match.
As a boxer its difficult to say, but my personal taste also gives me Roberto as Numero Uno. Nevertheless, the talent of Chavez and Monzon could have you arguing endlessly.
finally, I would also add Wilfred Benitez to the discussion.

I think Ricardo Lopez deserves mentioning at this point.
Also in say ten years time when we are looking back at their careers it will be interesting to see where we place Barrera and Morales on these lists.

Thats true... but like I said there are so amny to choose from its very hard to reach a definative list and not leave out someone who should be included... many of these fighters are probably equal in greatness... though that is sitting on the fence somewhat.
I can't belive myself that I left out Gavilan and Monzon.
Here is my revised list with a bit more thought....
1. Roberto Duran
2. Manual Ortiz
3. Salvadore Sanchez
4. Carlos Monzon
5. Al Brown
6. Kid Gavilan
7. Ruben Olivares
8. Pascuel Perez
9. Ruben Olivares
10. Kid Chocolate..........

ermmm. Olivares was great but twice?

, I guess that goes to show how tough it really is to pick a top 10 list of Latinamerican fighters

Well he was a two weight champ! 7 was for Bantam, 9 was for Feather!... 8). Actually it was an error!....

.
I'd move Perez up to 8 Chocolate up to 9 and put in Wilfred Benitez in at 10. Now I'm going to have a lie down!...

Chavez was a great fighter but I think these guys eclipsed him and were around in more competitive eras. Lots of other greats are out of the top ten like Gomez, Zarate, Saldivar..... as I said earlier, spoilt for choice!...

I picked Roberto Duran as the greatest Latin fighter of All-Time...No question about it!!!
I have not seen a Latin fighter that has captivated the masses like this SUPER CHAMPION...HE WAS UNIQUE nad in my view, a top 5 all time greatest fighter.
My Latin list is this one:
1. Roberto Duran (Panama) there is not a better latin fighter.
2. Carlos Monzon (Argentina)
3. Julio Cesar Chavez (Mexico)
4. Alexis Arguello (Nicaragua)
5. Eder Jofre (Brazil)
6. Panama Al Brown (Panama)
The last 4??? I do not know, but I probably rate them like this:
7. Kid Gavilan (Cuba)
8. Kid Chocolate (Cuba)
9. Salvador Sanchez (Mexico)
10. Ricardo Lopez (Mexico), Ruben Olivares (Mexico) or Manuel Ortiz (USA)
Honorable mention: Miguel Canto (Mexico), Pascual Perez (Argentina), Wilfredo Gomez (Puerto Rico), Wilfred Benitez (Puerto Rico), Carlos Ortiz (Puerto Rico), and Eusebio Pedroza (Panama)
