I just watched Legendary Nights. Tyson vs Lewis. When the two were youths the two sparred together. Tyson was having a hard time finding spaaring partners so the two amateur camps converged. There is a pictures of the two together. Any idea what Mike Tyson weighed back then. I have heard in smokers he fought at 190 pounds but other sources say he was in the 200 pound range.

Also, in round 8 of the pro bout between the two Lewis lannded some big shots on Tyson. It was ruled a knockdown but no part of Mike Tyson touched the canvass. Should this have been called a knockdown? It was but technically it was not.

Please post.

If no part of Tyson touched the canvas, it should have been called a miracle.

If you didn't notice in that fight Eddie Cotton the referee was bending over backward to help Mike as much as he could. That Knockdown you're referring to is one of those occasions. There was no Standing 8 count rule. He gave Mike one anyway because otherwise he'd have had to stop the fight, and he wanted to give Mike more chances.

Ultimately he couldn't help Mike, but he tried.

i mean mike was very close to touching down, it's not hard for me to see how a ref could think it was a kd in real time
