Looking at the vid, the way the winner moved both his gloves up at the same time to defend himself, and having ill fitting, borrowed shorts that he had the gloves on for the first time.
I guess licensed by the same commission as zelenoff

If that was the main event of the evening, I'd be asking for my money back.

Well he set a world record for being the oldest to make a professional debut and that was apparently his aim so good for him, plus his opponent picked up his first victory so everyone's happy.

If by "joke fights", we mean fights that never should have been sanctioned, the pre-internet era when records were harder to track will probably throw up some examples. A famous one is the "Tijuana Tumblers" show at the RAH in October 1980 - https://boxrec.com/en/event/45115 - had four Mexicans who lasted less than seven rounds between them, although frankly their records don't look too bad when you look at their form coming into the contests, plus one of them was stopped on a cut anyway. A more obvious one may be Bruno v Chuck Gardner. Plus anything involving the great Ali Raymi.

On ones where the bizarre element is how on earth the loser passed the medical, there is:

Burns v Cook
Barker v Sturm

Paul Briggs v Danny Green. Briggs fairly lucky he didn’t die. https://wwos.nine.com.au/news/boxing-pa ... d1e05835c9

I mean, not really. Briggs's plan was clearly to take the first head high jab on his gloves and fall over. He'd have had to be pretty unlucky for that to go wrong; Green would have had to come out swinging from the bell.

His opponent had lost 5 of 6 fights by ko in the first round.

But surely they could’ve got someone to agree to just ‘spar’ the old boy rather than try and blast him out’

And thats excatly what he done , But the tragic thing here is Green KNEW FULL WELL , the state of Briggs , it was the worst kept secret in Aussie boxing just how bad he was , there was a lot of pressure and money for Briggs to take that fight coming from Green and his management , . They wanted his name on there belt and could'nt care if he got killed ,, Turns out the muggers got mugged , Paul was a warrior his state of health shows that , Green well he was just lucky Mundine was around for him to make a name of ,, two of the worst fights ever involve Green .

This one and the Roy Jones fiasco

According to Wiki the street gang, The Sword Boys, bet $100,000 on the first round win. The commission passed their findings on to the police and fined him $75,000 for the dodgy loss.
