Hello again.
The answer is the late John Tate, from 1988, when he got jobbed of a 10 rd dec over Noel Quarless.
They claimed it was John Tate anyway, looked more like they just shaved an aged & obese gorilla and put gloves on it.
This thread was shit.

Boxrec has his weight as 281lbs which is about 40lbs lighter than Valuev was when he fought here?

Sorry he was the heaviest at the time but that was in 1988. Only 17 years ago.

Whilst on this subject did anyone here see Quarless vs Tate?
All I can recall is reading about it in Boxing News at the time.

I have it on tape. Its shit. But i'll go into mopre detail if anyones interested.
Big John was completely obese. He couldnt fight in his prime & in this sorry, tired & overweight condition he was even worse.
For 10 rds he plodded after Quarless throwing haymakers. Quarless ran & won a decision i think by half a point. Tate looked like he won fair & square.
Tate didnt realise that in the UK immediately after the fight the ref awards the dec. He was wondering around waiting on the decision whilst Quarless was running around celebrating. Then one ofhis corner explains the situation to him and Tate screams "WHAT THE fornicate????" & attempts to run wild & has to be restrained. I dont know about you but i cant realy conjure with the idea of having to restrain a 20 stone John Tate going ape. The situation eventually calmed i assume somebody had a cattle prod or a gun to hand or something.

I am, and I thank you.
Thinking back to the Boxing News report I seem to recall them saying that at one point the faded and overweight Tate attempted an Ali shuffle. Bearing in mind this is the best part of 20 years ago, so I apologise if I am thinking of the wrong fight. I think they said his whole body
'jiggled' during his attempted shuffle.
