Edgar Berlanga vs. Padraig McCrory on Feb. 24 Among Three Cards Announced By Matchroom

On Friday (February 16) Mexico plays host to another must-watch rematch as Adrien Curiel and Sivenathi Nontshinga run it back for the IBF Light-Flyweight World Title following their dramatic first meeting at the Casino de Monte-Carlo last month.

Mexico’s Curiel (24-4-1, 5 KOs) ripped up the script by scoring a shocking one-punch knockout of South Africa’s defending champion Nontshiunga (12-1, 9 KOs) in the second round of their highly anticipated showdown in Monaco.

The 24-year-old makes the first defence of his World Title on home soil, determined to prove that his stunning knockout of the year contender wasn’t just a one off. Having tasted defeat for the first time in his career, Nontshinga is aiming to recapture his old belt to keep his dreams of unifying the division alive.

Think Curiel will KO Nontshinga again, it wasn't a punch from the gods, he was hurting Nontshinga before he finished him

Nontshinga stops Curiel in the 10th to regain his world light flyweight title, action packed fight, fought entirely at close quarters with Curiel miles ahead on my card, Nontshinga didn't mind mixing it and was getting through here and there but Curiel was landing snappier shots and more of them, some crippling body shots landing, Nontshinga conceding ground far too easily and was always backed on the ropes, bizarre tactics, would've thought he'd have tried to change things up and tried to create some distance, get behind the jab etc but he just kept allowing Curiel to back him up and bully him, ref harshly took a point off in the 8th for use of head, Nontshinga had a mountain to climb but out of nowhere right at the end of the 9th rocked Curiel with 2 left hooks

The end came in the 10th courtesy of some horrific reffing, Nontshinga hurt Curiel again with a right, backed him on the ropes and unleashed about 30 unanswered punched, most missed but the ones that landed kept Curiel hurt, ref then bizarrely gave Curiel a standing count, not sure if that's allowed but when Nontshinga got him in the corner, he just let his hands go , missed with everything but ref jumped in, terrible stoppage, Curiel was in trouble but still had his wits about him enough to make Nontshinga miss with everything he threw

Excellent fight ruined by a totally incompetent referee, harsh point deduction, standing count and horrendous intervention

The point deduction and the standing count were bullshit but I don't think the stoppage was that bad :maybe:

But man, what has happened to Lara. Lack of interest/discipline? Lack of talent? I think on a good day he can beat absolutely anyone at 126/130 but somethings wrong with the guy. By the way I did have him winning the fight 96-94 but the most significant rounds went to Lugo
