Just watched a bit of footage of Dobson, I’m not convinced he’d beat Benn’s previous opponent.

This is really the level he’s at. Without a name to fight he’s just a bum killer isn’t he?

Why would boxing fans in Vegas be interested in this fight ?

I’m assuming it’s buried deep in the undercard somewhere. Is he even getting paid ?

It’s the headline fight, will be an afternoon show in Vegas for U.K. timings.

Fighting guys like Dobson must have Eubank jr quaking in his boots.

If Benn wants to make a statement he needs to be boxing at a higher level, but as we know this is his level

It’s 6 weeks out so I kind of get it. They were also looking to be stepping up 2 weight divisions so may have been already trying to bulk up.

This shouldn’t be a headline fight though regardless.

They’ve got Johnny Fisher on the undercard so will hoping he takes over a good few hundred.

We can all name 100 things we don't like about this promoter or that promoter.

But when all is said and done, taking a drug cheat out of the country to avoid the consequences of his failed tests will be a huge stain on Hearn's legacy

Calls out everyone under the sun - Fights Peter Dobson and then needs to rely on Fisher to sell some tickets.

They haven’t really avoided the consequences. They went through the WBC process and it was ruled that UKAD didn’t have jurisdiction on it. He’s not suspended so should be allowed to fight until it’s ruled differently in my opinion.

I get that it would help his image if he presented his evidence to UKAD and got off that way but if I’d been accused of something, was innocent, and had the choice to get off on a technicality or risk a decision being made on the evidence then I’d take the technicality.

I’m not saying Benn is innocent but whilst we continue to wait to see what’s happening with UKAD and the board’s appeal, he should be able to fight I think.

I reckon the Cosmo will be paying a fee for boxing to be hosted there and this is what can be afforded to keep Benn ticking over.

Johnny Fisher on the undercard as well. Not expecting much from this show.

Indeed, he also went on record with the following:

'I won’t be boxing under the British board ever again. Now I know why my dad ripped up his licence on TV. I will not box for them ever again. The way they have gone about this. The way they knew about this.

I think if he was banned by the British he would also be banned by their affiliated commissions.
But they can't ban him as he hasn't got a license!
Obviously the Saudi commission is the obvious place to get a license, but then as he he isn't banned, as long as he jumps through each commissions hoops he can get licensed wherever.
Under normal circumstances the BBBoC would take a very dim view of being circumvented in this way.
It's quite possible that Benn will never fight in The UK or Europe again.

Why would he be banned by the board though? UKAD issue the bans and they are, yet, to rule on it.

If he’s banned by UKAD then it will be respected by the majority of other commissions hence why he didn’t fight when he was originally charged by UKAD.

Do Saudi Arabia even have a comission? The BBBC are running things in Saudi on Saturday. Just as they did when they licensed Tyson Fury against a debutant.

It’s still a mess but I just don’t think Benn should be in limbo waiting for UKAD/the board’s appeal to arranged and heard. If he’s banned or suspended then of course he shouldn’t fight but until then he should in my opinion.

Benn should be banned, but like what happened with Fury, the UKAD can't afford the court case, so things are left in limbo.
Fury had time out Benn is boxing under other commissions, and they will prob serve their ban retrospectively.
Benn will accept his 2 year ban starting 2 years ago!

“Pistol Pete”
Peter Dobson was born in The Bronx, New York, America, on 16th May 1990. He has a sister, who is 10 years older.

His father was murdered in broad daylight when Peter was just one week old, shot five times in his car in a drive-by shooting at the hands of a rival drug gang. His dad was a feared drug dealer in the local area.

Peter grew up in a tough neighbourhood, surrounded by drugs and crime. He reflected, “All the older people I know around me that were successful, they were all drug dealers. That’s all I saw. If you want to get money or you want to get out the hood, the best way to do it is to sell drugs. So that’s why I wanted to be a drug dealer, because I wanted to do better for my family.”

He has been boxing for 17 years, first starting aged 16. His aunt had a gym near to her house, so Peter and his cousin went together. When that gym closed down, Peter joined South Box, run by former standout amateur, Eric Kelly. His relationship with Kelly is what helped elevate his boxing career.

Before boxing, he played for the New York Gauchos, an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball team that only the best of the best in the New York area played for, and has produced NBA stars such as Rod Strickland, Mark Jackson, Stephon Marbury.

As an amateur, he won the NYC Golden Gloves when he was 23-years-old, beating the number one in the country in the final, whilst working night shifts every day. Most Americans consider the New York Golden Gloves as the most difficult state competition to win. He also won the NYC Metro.

His amateur record was 65-6.

2013 was such a successful year for him in the amateurs that he decided to turn pro, citing his reasons as: “If I could beat these dudes and I’m working a job, and I’m not even taking this serious, imagine if I put 100% in?”

He won his pro debut on 20th September 2014 against Mack Babb on points - 40-36.

When he reached 8-0, he defeated Jeremy Nichols, who was also eight fights unbeaten, for the WBC USA Silver welterweight title in 2017. The next person to win that same title was Jaron "Boots" Ennis.

He was once ranked in the WBC Top 40 welterweight world ratings.

The 33-year-old has previously been due to fight Caoimhin Agyarko and Pat McCormack, but both fights fell through.

His boxing nickname is “Pistol Pete”.

He is managed by Ryan Rickey, who says of him, “Pete is one of the most respected guys in the New York boxing scene. He has been avoided by most. His notable wins were all as him coming in on the B side as he was 'expected to lose' by the promoter.”

During 2023, he has been taking part in The Combat League as a member of NYC Attitude. Team Combat League matches feature 24 three-minute rounds of non stop action. Competitors compete in one round matches and over eight weight classes. 16 fighters or two fighters per weight class per team appear in each match, which is broken up into three periods.

Notable fights include Emmanuel Medina on July 20, 2019; Jeremy Nichols on March 24, 2017; and Miguel Borregga on February 25, 2022.

He has sparred with the likes of Jaron Ennis, Erickson Lubin, Terence Crawford.

He has trained at The Mayweather Gym in Las Vegas and the Wildcard Gym in LA.

He sparred Adrien Broner at Floyd's gym and believed that he did really well against him. He was later aggrieved to see that Broner posted clips on his Instagram of him hitting Dobson only, so not showing the full story of the spar, and now Adrien Broner is No.1 on his hit list.

He has ambitions to make enough money from boxing to be able to open his own boxing gym one day.

He has a son called Eli and is separated from his wife.

He enjoys watching other sports, basketball and American football, but considers himself a student of boxing.

His Roots are Jamaican and Puerto Rican.

Fury failed a UKAD test though so had to agree a deal or go through the process. He went on his long term bender and they eventually agreed a deal.

Benn didn’t fail a UKAD test and the board didn’t have provisions for non-UKAD test failures until after Benn had failed the tests hence it being so messy.
