We have a new 'world' champion

For those interested, Prince Patel won the IBO title just before Xmas. People mock but he's now won Commonwealth and IBO titles, as well as other baubles. Funny interview with him on Boxing King Media YouTube channel this evening Not everyone's cup of tea but he's not rubbish, was on the England squad as an am and seems to have forged a career on his own. Decent words about Sunny (largely), and I find him funny. Hope he gets on a proper TV channel, he'll be an excellent pantomine villain and he's not without talent.

I like watching him. I think he needs to tone it down and in time people will warm to him. Wasn't huge on Degale at the start but by the end I was a fan

Same here. I think it is an act much of it, as I've spoken to him on other channels and he is really humble and self deprecating. And I also think he is a decent boxer, more importantly. I do hope he tones it down enough to get some decent run on a channel.

so when's he gonna fight someone decent then? the guy he beat for the 'world' title is #190 for some perspective....was also the first time in his last 7 bouts his opponent wasnt tanzanian (incidentally tanzania has a shady commission and loads of fights there have been removed from boxrec). of course people mock him when he talks like he does but then fights who he does

this accomplishment says more about the manipulation of ratings and title shots than his talents. maybe for his first title defense he can lure the great innocent evarist out of retirement to settle the score after their controversial draw

He loses to the first top 50 opponent he faces.

He's okay to a level, but lets not forget he did get absolutely outboxed on that Amir Khan undercard a few years back.

Commonwealth 👏
IBO🚮

Would like to see Patel in a decent fight that don't take place in a Delhi gym hall, him and Lowe is a great fight

If you did, you'll know why.

watching it now, regardless its more a comment on the absurdity of all the belts.

I'd actually like to see him vs lowe.

I would too. And the belts are beyond absurd.

I do think the African belt thing is sincere though, so too his comments about his father. There is a decent human beyond all the bluster.

Can’t agree there mate. Think you rate Patel way too highly. Lowe dominates him.

Lowe not only has mixed it at a far higher level but Prince has been fighting at Super-Fly/Bantam whilst Lowe is a natural featherweight.

I think Lowe would be a big favourite if they fought at 126.

He definitely has fought at a higher level but I can't see him being able to hurt Patel. And Lowe seems a very old 29.

very possible. I told everyone Audley would KO Haye too so I'm very owning of my boxing flaws :)

Lowe’s 2 weights bigger though whilst Patel has just been padding his KO record.

I agree that Lowe’s an old 29 but he’s only been beat by Lopez and Ball and both are good.

Can’t see it happening though due to the weight.

Both are very good. Ball could go onto win a world title if matched right.

I hope it does happen but I don't think Patel will want to step up much weight, he's very slight.

Audley to KO Haye was one of my great pics. Another one was Moorer to beat Tua. No one could talk me out of it.

I think there was something wrong with him mentally, like an anxiety disorder. I've struggled with it over the years and recognise it. It's fucked up my career a bit work wise and sabotages me even though I've got the ability and brains. He looked like he had completely frozen a few times and was trying to move but couldn't. A shame as he could whack and had nice skills. It must be frustrating to know you're an Olympic and commonwealth medalist and having that issue. He locked up against Martin Rogan too and I think that was a winnable fight

Same here re the anxiety, was on a graduate management programme to train you up to CEO, ended up a middle manager. I used to freeze and tank at head of service interviews and ended up changing sectors. I'm sure it's more than anxiety but it's a big hurdle even with meds.
