I read Mitch Green sparred back in 1980 with John.

I had read that Muhammad Ali had invited John Tate down to the Fifth Street gym in Miami
to spar with him in January 1979, when Ali started to train for his fight with Leon Spinks
( whether Big John Tate showed up to spar , is not known)
