Byrd would have his moments by outboxing Patterson in the early rounds behind his southpaw jabs and counterpunches. However, Patterson would peek-a-boo through Byrd's defense with body punches and nailing him with right hands and left hooks to take a decision.

Good, competitive boxing match. Patterson's more explosive offense would win the day for him I think. He had the kinda hand speed that would see Byrd getting hit a lot more than he's comfortable with or used to.
