Nobody is too old (ok, at 64 maybe I am) to win an alphabet belt is a sport where random, well-managed fighters can get shots for “vacant” belts against opponents of questionable merit in front of a home crowd

I don't think he's too old, but I think he might not be good enough.

OK, he may be able to pick up one of the 3 million or so WBA 'world' titles that exist in their parallel universe, or the IBX might come into existence and he can win one of theirs against a hand car washer or something, but he isn't beating any elite fighters in his division.

He is and that’s no age these days.

Majority of the best fighters are over 30; fair chunk over 35 and still prime today.

Sports science has definitely evolved, unless it's down to the fact that they don't fight much these days, so don't wear out as early these days?

Too old, No

Not good enough, Yes

They basically have to try to scrape the bottom of the Titleholder barrel to find a "Champion" he can beat anyway. So even if he were to win a World Title. He'd be deemed an easy Target of a Champion, and every up and coming contender would be chomping at the bit to get him in the ring.

You have to admit he has slowed dramatically since the Groves fight. Before that he was an extremely high volume fighter.

Yes, you've got a point.

I don't know if it's a lingering hangover from the Roy Jones era, or whether it's a sign of the times.

He is boxrec's #1 MW. I can't see how he'd not be good enough to get a shot at and win a world title in his next fight. Y'all really think he has no hope of beating Janibek Alimkhanuly?

and he's already beat boxrec's #2 mw , liam smith. so he's beaten the best guy out there apart from himself.

Typically, your career in politics is showing, as you completely avoid the question.
The answer is no.
