don't want to spoil it but you're not missing anything new really, just confirming he's now retired, why he had to fight Tyson and how Tyson bit him on the leg. Same as pretty much any recent LL interview. One thing I did notice though is he looked to be in better shape (well, facially anyway, but you know what I mean) than other times he's been spotted post-retirement. If I was a conspiracy theorist, which I am, I'd suggest he's been back in the gym and not just to stay trim. He confirmed again on JR he'd fight Vitali if the price was right. I think the price is right and has been for some time, Lewis/Vitali II for later this year.

Like Pheonix said, you didn't miss much. Just the usual spiel about retirment and Tyson. It was wierd seeing him in this situation tho. Could never really imagine lennox on a chat show.

He was on Parkinson before, came across quite well, he's quite a funny guy away from the ring.

Thats what I thought. Makes you wonder why he never made the effort to endear himself to the public before now.

I think it's because by nature he's a pretty private person. He doesn't do many interviews, I can only really remember the Parkinson one before and one with BBC recently, and so tended to not react well when interviewed after fights etc.

I think Lewis viewed the publicity side of things as nothing to do with him, and chose to avoid it in the main.

Seems a shame. Maybe if he'd been a bit more in the public eye, the Americans would have seen him as more than an aloof and unaproachable Brit. IMO his lack of public profile is one of the main knocks against his legacy ( in the americans eyes anyway).

In time that will be forgotten and he will receive his due reward. Even some of the most curmudgeonly American writers rate him very highly, though often not in the top 10.

I once read a Mike Katz article where he stated Lewis has had a very good career and remarked "maybe top 25 of all time...".

I'd really like to see him come up with a full list of 24 HW's better all time than LL, although no doubt Chris Byrd was one of them.

Like a lot of old timers, Katz would have his top 24 including people who never won the title, like Sam Langford etc. He didn't even have Hagler, Monzon or Hopkins in his top 10 middleweights of all time, but had Ezzard Charles and Charley Burley in there, despite the fact that neither fought for, let alone won the middleweight title.

Katz is ok, he knows his stuff, but he's stuck in a timewarp where everyone from his era is naturally better.

I think Lewis bit Tyson, not the other way around....

Lewis did look in much better shape, I did think maybe he was in training he seems to have shifted a lot of weight.

what really bugs me is when people rank Frazier above Lewis.

There really is no justification for that, other than blind patriotism on the part of americans.

majority of boxing fans are 99% popularity 1% reason when it comes to mythical matchups or P4P or whatever.
