Perhaps, surprisingly, but I'd make Gomez a slight favorite. I'm not sure what's De Leon's prime. He was an inconsistent fighter. I think, Gomez of late 90's - early 00's would've defeated De Leon from the Nelson fight.

De Leon of the 1980s would outpoint Gomez after outboxing him with sharp jabs and counterpunches. Gomez would have either decision or stopping De Leon from the Nelson fight late.
