Any firm opinions on the different types of gloves out there?

Cleto Reyes gloves feels like there’s not much in them, hence the rep as a punchers glove.

Grant I’ve found a good glove. More compact and solid and a glove made with hand protection in mind.

Winning another good glove with no real weakness and generally decent when it comes ti protecting the hand.

Thoughts on some gloves I’ve never worn?

i liked all the everlast gloves i wore, solid all round

i had a pair of title bag gloves and they were okay

the cleto reyes i tried were weird, very squishy/soft. not like i expected

BRYAN - classic British made gloves...

I'd buy cheap sparring gloves for bagwork.

Can't believe I used little bag gloves with little protection for the hands for so many years

Do boxers have to provide their own gloves? Back in the day at shows I used to see a guy with loads of Bryan ones that I presumed was given out to the boxers.

I'm a long long way from being a pro, tend to use Lonsdale when on the heavy bag as can get them dirt cheap (thanks Mike Ashley!). Do the job well enough, although lining tends to split fairly easily. Have considered buying some nice expensive pairs of gloves but seems a bit of a waste of money since they'll never leave my garage.

Largely there are only really a couple of things to consider, quality v cheap rubbish and do you prefer round or flat.

Adidas for example tend to be quite round, whereas I personally prefer a flatter knuckle. Generally I use Reyes but have had some grants which have a similar profile but are softer and at the cheaper end Ringside gloves are decent.

My personal opinion is that using stuff like RDX or Lonsdale is a false economy as they fall apart so quickly.

I've got pair of Lonsdale Reyes! Back then, early nineties, the Reyes gloves could only be got in the Lonsdale shop and had their tag on it too.
2010, bought a cheap pair of Lonsdale sparring gloves for an 8 week training camp, only for bag work(still had the Reyes from the 90's for sparring). Anyway in the last session the cheap ones split completely, after 8 weeks of bagwork.
The Reyes ones cost me 130 quid, a lot of money then, but last forever.
Still got them hanging on the back of my door.
