Will Morales go down as the best Mexican fighter ever??

Yes. He is virtually unstoppable. you just CANT stop Morales. Barerra was flattened by Junior Jones. Morales beat Barrera at least 2/3 IMO and the fourth fight will inevitably happen now. He is going to move up to 135 soon and clean up at that weight. I can see him at LW giving Hatton a hiding if Hatton has the balls to fight him.
Next up for Morales will surely be Marquez. After he beats Marquez he will be looking at either a PAC rematch or Barrera. This guy is what boxing is about. Continually strive to fight and beat the best.
He is already a legend and he's gaining on Chavez and I believe he will surpass him in a few years.
Will Morales go down as the best Mexican fighter of all time?

dont be so stupid. as if he is gonna move up to light welterweight

you cant help yourself you find some friggin reason to slate hatton even if the topic has got nothing to do with him.
dont notice you saying he would give witter a beating?
in fact why not just say he would be competetive at light welter, not that its gonna happen very soon if at all.
please stop this incessant hating its very tedious.

NO, Barreras better and Barrera won the first and third matches, beat Hamed, Mckinney and is the smaller man than Moralles. Morales is good but I think Hamed would have totally destroyed Morales, Morales isn't the fast tactician Barrera is.

Oh yea and Morales only moved up to 130 after Mayweather, Chico and Cassa, Freaitas moved up. They offered him fights but he didn't take them. At 135 plenty of fighters KO Morales and Hatton would stop the small Morales.

In a word: NO!
Morales will not go down in history as the greatest mexican boxer ever. Julio Cesar Chavez has got to be the best ever from mexico.
Anyway, I reckon Barrera will go down in history as the better fighter than Morales. He beat Morales last november, and I think if they fight again, Barrera would win again! Barrera has his number!
Do not get me wrong, Morales is a great, great fighter and one of the best from mexico ever, but not THE best ever.

I think if Morales would have beaten Barrera in November then possibly (more like probably) yes, but he didn't. For me, Barrera has beaten him 3 times out of 3. I think simply those defeats are too much for him to win that award.
As much as a respect and marvel at Barrera and Morales, watch Chavez vs Rosario 1987 - thats the finest fighter Mexico has ever produced.

No, I don't think he can overtake Chavez' body of work before the wheels fall off. There's a lot of other competition too.
I don't think the losses to Barrera are a big factor, after all it's only one guy who has beaten him, and all the fights were very close, especially the first two.

There's no guarantee the 4th fight will happen. Barrera is a Golden boy fighter, and Arum hates oscar now, he will do everything to avoid giving Oscar a payday.

Whats more has Morales ever come into the ring weighing less than his opponent? Hes a fine example of a boilin a bag fighter

by Rocky Balboa
Yes, thats is another reason too. Morales probably has always weighed heavier than his opponent come fight-time.
Against Barrera, he weighed in at 130lbs, then come fight time, was 143lbs. Berrera meanwhile, weighed 132lbs come fight time. The difference was 11lbs.
Against Pacquiao, Morales weighed 140lbs come fight time, and Manny was 139lbs. I was quite surprised that Manny put on that amount of weight.

This is true, however, he's hardly the only one. He weighs in at 144 on fightnight but those fighting at welterweight weigh in at 154.

I'd have to rate J.C.Chavez number 1, but Morales is closing the gap all the time....but still has some way to go still.
I had the first Morales-Barrera contest a draw and Morales winning the the second and third fights.
As Stujones says, Chavez battering Edwin Rosario was breath taking. A true great in full flow.
Morales is doing all the right things but Chavez has set the benchmark at a very high level.

Morales beat Barerra 2/3 IMO but I think that it's unfair to say Barrera is better than Morales or vice versa b/c the fights were VERY close. As I said before, Morales CANNOT be stopped. Hamed would not have came close to stopping Morales. Let's face it, he wouldn't have beaten the top guys. Barerra/Marquez/Morales, even Pacman would have beaten Hamed. Barerra was stoped by Pacman and Junior Jones. Guess who beat them. Look at Morales overall career, it is better than Barerra's. CLEARLY.
I'm talking about at the end of his career. If he goes on to Beat Marquez/Pac and Barerra (Can you honestly say he won't?), then moves up and wins a title at lightweight.
My only concern is that he will most likely have one fight too many and get beaten by an up and comer when he's in his mid 30's and the wear and tear has taken it's toll.

Why exactly do they hate each other?

That's because he had unfinished business with Barerra and wants to clean out the lower division before he moves up. He will move up eventually, he has said as much. If he beat Coralles or Cassa, that would be something else.
When Morales has grown into a LW, I would favour him over Hatton.

Lirva - just so we can do an "objectivity test", how do you think he would do against the rest of the Top 10 140 lb

Obviously I would have to see him have a fight at LW before I could say objectively. It would take time but he has said he will definately move up to 135, and a big fight at 140 could tempt him.

HE won't grow into 140 ever, thats like saying when Mayweather grows into Middleweight or Zoo grows into a LHW.
As good as his achievements are Morales career has always been carefully stage-managed and hes already turned down Cassa and Coralles at 130 why would he fight them at 135? He may move upto 135 but it will be when the divisions weak. He didn't move upto 126 until Hamed left.

On a fourth fight with Barrera, Morales said. "I'll let the fans speak. If the fans say they want a fourth fight with Barrera, I'll do it."

You make beating Marquez sound like the easiest thing in the world. He may not be an exciting fighter but he is a good one. Morales took a narrow decision over Pac. Marquez if it wasn't for the horrible start to his fight with Pac would have won handily and some argue that he won the fight anyway. I reckon the fight would be Morales being the aggresor and Marquez sitting back and countering. I could see it going either way. Underrated fighter is Marquez just because he isn't exciting.

have to mention "finito" as well. Fastest hands I have ever seen in his early career
