Funny, but I was inspired by this topic after seeing a boxing simulation of Hagler-McCallum bout on YouTube
Overall, I heard different takes on the Hagler-McCallum fight that never happened. One is that then-young McCallum was calling Hagler out circa 1985-1986, but Hagler dismissed him. Others say that these stories were mostly pushed in the media by McCallum himself. And that, in reality, Hagler-McCallum fight was never really on cards.
Anyway, let's imagine both would've met each other in 1985-1986. McCallum was up and coming, but not really experienced at that point in time. While Hagler wasn't already at his best by then, but was still very much capable.
How do you expect it to go?

I could see a well-prepared Mike McCallum winning this fight. If he took Julian "The Hawk" Jackson's best shots, then he could surely take Marvelous'.
And I think that it would have been the right time to unseat Marvelous from the Middleweight crown.
McCallum by decision.

Hagler beats him handily on points. McCallum wasn’t on the level of people like Hagler or Leonard.

Mike McCallum was on their level. He was at the level of the 4 Kings. What a fighter!

In 1986, the Marvelous One who fought John "The Beast" Mugabi would take a decision after getting the better of the Bodysnatcher behind his southpaw jabs and body punches in a close fight.

I think Marvelous. But, I would have not been surprised if Mike McCallum wins it. That guy was very good. He was in the 4 Kings level when it came to skills

Great fighter, but Curry and Jackson wobbled him and Sumbu Kalambay gave him a boxing lesson in their first bout. Hagler would take a wide decision.

Mike got even better with age and with miles on the clock for my money........and at this specific point he was not the real deal and Hagler wins.
