Just rewatched the Smith Zepeda fight ending body shot and it looked every inch the same as what Usyk milked and deemed a foul for poor old Dubois .
No moaning from Zepeda last night and a great win for Smith .
What am I missing ?

The first thing Mills Lane said to fighters during the staredown in the ring was "if it goes right here I'm not going to call it low right? If it goes right here I'm not going to call it low."

Both fighters and the ref now know what's acceptable and isn't.

There is a difference in class in refereeing as there is in fighting.

Fair enough, but it's not a level playing field is it .
It's a difficult one isn't it as it's on the referee .
Still feel DDD was hard done by , especially when you see that last night (another great body shot) .

nope, different shots vs fighters wearing different shorts (look how f@cking massive zep's belt line is btw, like 2x the size of smith's), at different heights

I thought Dubois' shot was borderline but legal in real time, it landed around the bottom of the beltline. But with the benefit of slow-mo replay it's clearly a curved shot landing below the beltline and riding up. This shot is straight across and lands on the top of the beltline, definitely legal.

The Dubois shot on Uysk looked like a low blow and it followed other low bows by him in that fight.

I was disappointed. I've never quite got the quitter tag that was given to him: he has been in with Joyce, Miller and Uysk and now looks set to take on Hgovic. Plus he has climbed off the floor to win. All of which takes courage. But, those low blows against Uysk let him down a bit, I felt.

That said, I was pleased to see him come through a storm against Miller and then take him out. His finest moment to date and required a lot of character.

You have to take into account if Usyk was counted would he have got up, I think he would. He stayed down as the ref stopped the fight so he took the time to recover.

It depends which corner you are in!

I agree the waistband looks mahoosive , but I think the top section of that you can see is the protector riding up .
Seems to remember also Usyk wearing similar height waistband on his shorts for the Dubios fight .
The histrionics from him that night was modern day footballer level .
