On BBC TV about Shane McGuigan and his stable of fighters, four episodes each one 60 minutes long. Not bad at all.

Yeah I agree mate, I’m on the second one, covering the Frampton split and Shane having a dig at Frampton when they bump into each other at a show.

I can’t say I know too much about it, I know Frampton won the case but don’t really know the ins and outs.

Josh Taylor went public about it too, he went into detail on a podcast a couple of years ago, think it was Boxing Life Stories, but don't quote me on that.
Chantelle Cameron also expressed displeasure about the way she was treated by the McGuigans.
Conrad Cummings too left the camp around the same time as Frampton, not sure if he had issues or if was just following Frampton around again.

I don’t think Frampton ‘won’ as such. They settled out of court. Frampton did, however, say that he was very happy with the settlement.
It’s also worth mentioning that McGuigan was also suing Frampton.

I guess they only settled as they would've lost in court, there are always two sides of a story though. I should look it up really.

I don't think that the court case was as clear-cut as who won it or lost it - it's a mixed bag...
Frampton definitely was in breach of contract when he had one more fight with Cyclone Promotions and refused it.
Frampton said in an interview that Cyclone were holding on to his money and that going in to the Santa Cruz rematch, he still hadn't received a penny of the money from the first fight. Blaine McGuigan said that he was doing it because of "the tax financial year" and that he would be able to keep more of it if he waited...
Barry put the money up for Carl's training, nutrition and everything top get him going in the professional ranks, he never took a penny of the winnings until Carl won the Commonwealth title...

Yeah always two sides to a story, I'm sure both sides feel aggrieved. Shane said in this BBC series that Carl lived with him for seven years and they were best man at each others weddings so obviously very close friends at one point. Money has a habit of causing problems.

the macguigans may be perfectly good friendly people when money and power isnt involved. for some people their dark side only comes out in certain realms. the version spud knows and the version frampton knows are compatible
just like there are killers who were perfectly good to the people in their lives except those who fit a very specific victim profile. most would say they seemed like a nice person and had positives interactions with them
obviously barry isnt that level, but enough people have labelled him a financial predator + other evidence that i think there's truth to it. him being good to certain people, perhaps even most people in his life, doesn't mean he hasnt exploited others.

Agreed mate. Think it was his interview with James English that Frampton said he was in Manchester training and his wife phoned him because the tax man visited her and told her that they owed over 200 grand...

Fallouts in boxing are two a penny and another side worth hearing is Chris Bilham-Smith.
He's been brilliantly guided throughout his career so far collecting Commonwealth, European and the WBO world title (beating Okolie, who would have probably have reigned for a good while if he hadn't ran into Bilham-Smith).
The story isn't complete yet....but from the interviews I've heard Chris speaks glowingly of the McGuigans and seems a lot more level headed & intelligent than the other boxers.

It should be noted that every fighter that left them on bad terms went to Daniel Kinahan.
No ones ever left them to work with a normal boxing manager.

I agree, we don’t know all the ins and outs and like any split there will be differences in opinions and grey areas.

But now as champ the big purses should be coming, the question is that will he get paid right.
In terms of guiding the fighters to titles, Smith, Frampton, Asim and Smith, all been done brilliantly.
But getting paid is the question
