Wilde and the two Lewis would be my top 3 With it being Wilde at 1 and Lennox at 2.

A bit of a gap and the next tier would include

Freddie Welsh, Benny Lynch, Joe Calazghe and Ken Buchannon… quite possibly in that order.

Then
Jim Driscoll, Ricky Hatton

Mmm tenth spot … a tossup with so many Naz, Conteh, Barry and Honeyghan would be the front runners

In theory yes - if only it wasn't for that penultimate fight. Talent wise, not only should he be in the 10 he should be rediculously high up the list - quite possibly even #1 - Accomplishment wise - if he would have retired pre Barerra then yes - I think there is a case he did more than Barry, Conteh, Froch, Honeyghan, Stracey, Winstone - hell maybe even Joe Calzaghe - a Unified 5 YEAR championship reign isn't to be scoffed at.

BUT - his one fight vs a true great, but not in the "same" level of greatness as Mayweather and Pacquiao and he got schooled (sod the score cards - Barrera CONTROLLED every second of that fight) and then he basically wanted out and that defeat makes you then look at "where is his GREAT win". Hatton lost to Pacqiao and Mayweather in worst fashion - but them two were a level ahead of MAB. So looking down his record for his best win - and singular fight win tops Hamed by some distance, Honeyghan also - his best win was better than Hamed's best win, Stracey, Conteh, Barry, Winstone - all the same. Froch - not so sure, but his loss to Ward is probably comparable to Hamed's loss to Barrera - its probably a case of who you prefer.

So I think it is a case of whether you go for Longeivty - and possibly a less "standout" win (but more of them) but ultimately getting found out vs a less Long championship career - with a bigger "standout" win and likewise getting found out.

Its a tough call - hence why I have Naz in the Bracket for the 10th spot on my list.

It is amazing how time flies. Just realised completely forgot about Randolph Turpin - surely he has to be there. Maybe his great great great win has kind of been forgotten about in history - or history is thinking it was somehow some kind of fluke or that Robinson was not focused.

MAB lost to Morales and Morales beat Pac

naz was excellent and had plenty of solid wins, but losing his only fight vs that famous group (pac, morales, pac, marquez) lowers the ceiling on his ranking and keep him a level down from that upper tier of greats. domestically it's the same, there are enough guys who got the type of major win naz didnt and/or accumulated a stronger 2nd tier resume that i think he's only fitting in around lower top 10, which is still awesome

ya morales, pac, marquez, barrera...........they lost some fights, and not even vs the best opponents always, but they also stuck around to get those big wins. naz called it a day almost as soon as he lost. fair enough, enjoy your retirement, but it did prevent any furthering of his accomplishments

Would love to see people perhaps to see the top 30.

Just wondering at the moment I don't think there is one mention of Fury or AJ yet.

And what about other "solid" world champions - people like Steve Robinson, Duke McKenzie and the like.

That's a pretty damn good list - I did not include Fitz in mine, but if I did - he would be right up there. I'd still have Wilde at #1, but maybe Fitz at 2 and the two Lewis' at 3 and 4. - but very close between those three.

Noticed there are a host of solid fairly long reigning world champions not even had a single mention - I wonder whether some might not even make a top 30.

Fury, Freddie Mills, Joshua, Brook, Haye, Bruno, Eubank, Benn, Woodhall, Woods, Khan, Scott Harrison, Thompson, Nelson (15 odd world title defenses), Magri, Bellew, Saunders, Minter, Burns, Watt, McDonnell, Selby, Maccarinelli, McKenzie, Yafai, McAuley, Robinson etc etc etc.

Fitz's achievement of winning the World Middleweight, Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight championships makes him #1 for me.

I'm probably biased putting Mendeloff at #2, but hey, it's my list.
