RIP

Westgarth fought James Oyebola twice and scored an excellent stoppage win in the return match. I think both fights were screened on ITV's Seconds Out.

Just refreshed my memory looking at Westgarth's record on Boxrec and completely forgot that in 1986 John challenged for the European heavyweight title in Denmark losing a split decision.

He also boxed a whole host of good names with mixed success. A real tough pro who accepted some hard fights :salut:

A totally unpredictable challenge for the euro title during the 80`s golden age when you could see this stuff on terrestrial TV.

That's a shame and I definitely recall him.
Think his best win was over Glenn McCrory wasn't it?

it is lovely when a boxer passes and the forum takes the time to note and pass condolences. Bloody good place this is for boxing. Made me read about the chap's career as he was a bit before my boxing time.
