Gennady Golovkin Getting on With Life and New Role, Says Promoter

“I was always hoping for one more fight, whether it was a farewell fight in Kazakhstan, or one of these matchups you see in the Middle East, that type of thing,” Loeffler told BS. But with the February announcement by the Kazakh National Olympic Committee that Golovkin would be its new president, Loeffler acknowledges that the likelihood of such an event is now remote.
“That's a very high position in Kazakhstan – he's not only the head of Olympic boxing in the country, he’s the head of every sport of the national Olympic team in Kazakhstan. So, that’s a full-time job for him.”
“He was so dominant,” he said. “There were no chinks in his armor, whether it was him being able to take a punch, whether it was him being able to deliver a punch. When I first met Triple G, [trainer] Abel [Sanchez] said he had never felt anyone punch as hard on the pads, and Abel’s had a long list of world champions. And that came to fruition with his one-punch knockout power, whether that was with a body shot against Matthew Macklin or at Madison Square Garden against Daniel Geale.
“It was the first time I saw that: being hit flush on the face on the chin, and then a split-second later demolishing Geale with one punch.”
“I’ve worked with a number of world champions and I've never had such a hard time getting somebody to challenge a champion. He had multiple world titles. You have an opportunity to fight for the championship. And promoters would actually turn it down,” he said.
“There were so many times that the challengers were making the same amount of money as the champion, which was unheard of at the time. But we had to overpay them, just to get them in the ring with Gennady. But it was such a fun ride. The Mexican fans took to his style, he really became one of those universally loved champions where they appreciated his style in the ring. They appreciated his humbleness and his character outside the ring. It was great. It was a great ride with Triple G.”
“There was no point,” Loeffler said. “He had accomplished so much in his career. He had so many title defenses around the world: selling out the O2 Arena in London [against Kell Brook in 2016], fighting Ryoto Murata and selling out the Saitama Arena [in 2022], that special night against Martin Murray in Monaco [in 2015] when we had Prince Albert and Princess Charlene ringside. There are just so many great memories with Triple G, and it just seems like he feels he’s accomplished everything he wanted to in boxing.”
If Golovkin has indeed made a decision not to return to the ring, Loeffler doubts he’ll issue any kind of formal announcement.
“It seems like he’s just going to get on with his life,” he said. “It’s a big position that he’s been appointed to in Kazakhstan. So, I believe he’ll just get on with his career. Staying involved with sport, but not actively in the ring.”
@ B.S
Good for GGG. He had a tough road to get very good fights and he was so dominant. Fighters like Sturm, Quillin, Martinez, JCCJr, BJS, Cotto and even Canelo avoided GGG, when Canelo choosed to fight Khan, Liam and JCCJr and then he dropped his wbc mw title. lol
I'm very glad that GGG succeeded to make enough money to be set for life. He fully deserves his new job as the president of the Kazakh National Olympic Committee.
GGG's best wins: Jacobs, Canelo I (yeah realistically its a clear win for G), Chenko (close win, maybe a MD for G, a rematch would've been fair), Murata, Lemi.
Lets not forget that GGG got these top fights after 32-33 y/o and Jacobs, Chenko and especially Canelo were much younger fighters than GGG.

a true one
Imagine how really hard and difficult was for a foreign fighter like him to make his way up in the US boxing industry! If GGG was a mexican, american or an english fighter his resume would've been even more thicker with great victories.

Never a better overall package: Skill, power, chin, toughness, demeanor/attitude, professionalism, sense of humor, work ethic.
3G deserved better in a number of ways, but he never let it distract him. He was always a joy to watch in and out of the ring. He lights up the room with his honesty, cheerfulness, and intelligence.
3G won the first Canelo fight, clearly, and he deserved nothing less than a draw in the second fight.
3G was the best thing about his generation of boxing. He will always bring a smile to my face when I think of him. He is kind of the antithesis of FMJ.

- Good to see the usual ninnies out in force glad handing each other
No bigger fan of Golovkin and Canelo than I, so I hate when my favs fight each other, however that forces a more even handed judging of a fight. I score even rounds even which is where any controversy arises because of the inherent gambling aspect of boxing which is why just about any decent fight is controversial. No other gambling sport has these problems because the rules, officiating, and scoring is made more transparent to fans.
1st fight Canelo a 1 point win with around half the rounds even meaning a GGG 1 point Win or Draw would be a reasonable result. So they rolled again where Golovkin was ill advised by Loeffler who looked to be on his downhill trajectory also with First Lady Cecilia Braekhus into two consecutive losses when she should've been retiring.
First they lobbied for Canelo suspension for testing positive for ghost nanograms of Clen in the middle of VADA testing below the FAIL limit consistent with local food contamination in a planet where every world beach is contaminated in Fecal Coliform and local shell fish show Viagra and Cocaine contamination.
Net result was young Canelo was in the improvement stage with more payback motivation than ever while Golovkin and Loeffler, smug over their stunt got beat up with Canelo at ring center for the rematch knocking him backwards anytime he ventured in. Last two rounds he replicated the first fight strategy and kept Golovkin moving so he couldn't set up to punch while Canelo walked him into punches for a wide decision on my card, meaning Golovkin got a lot of Drug sympathy even rounds by Vegas appointed judges and ref, losing a Majority Decision.
Third fight Canelo carried Golovkin who was clearly past his best unable to execute any offensive effort and he still got a lot of love from the Vegas officiating.
That said, interesting that Golovkin was making a lot of endorsement income, somehow capturing American Marketing. The top American Boxer, Floyd Mayweather, had next to zero endorsements not that he needed any. No need to discuss the reasons why.
Trivia: Golovkin challenged TBE TUE for his 154 belts and/or offered his 160 title at 155 lbs. Golovkin also offered Wart a 164 lb challenge for his Supermiddle Titles, all to no avail, yet Wart offered his SuperMiddle titles to TBE TUE at 162 lbs to no avail...only in boxing, folks...

Some of GGG's quotes:
"I like real people. I don't like fakes.
I'm a boxer. I'm a boxer. If you're interested, just watch my boxing, not my life.
People who like boxing like my style.
If you have money, and you help people, you don't talk about it. Just do it.
If you want street fight, let's go. If you want boxing, I show you. But people think I am, like, gangster. No. Ring is different world. Very dangerous.
I understand this business. Sometimes there's a lot of corruption. It's boxing.
I'm always looking for new ways to improve my skills.
When I wrap my hands, I do it for my family. I owe my courage to them and also my success. That's why I fight.
I've never been a bad guy - never acted like a tough guy.
Boxing is serious. It's not a game. Just one punch - change life."

I saw that punch by Geale and thought for a brief second that Daniel may have had a chance, it was a very brief second and GGG just walked straight through him. A great middleweight to be sure. He doesn't need to take anymore punches or stay around anymore. He owes us nothing.

Instead of Geale, it should've been Sturm taking GGG's punches.
Imagine that there were some fighters in the same stable with GGG like Sturm, Martinez, Cotto and JCCJr that pretty much avoided GGG at all costs.

Boxing can indeed be a sport filled with debates and disagreements over judging and officiating.
The dynamics between the fighters and their teams, along with external factors like testing controversies, can add layers of complexity to the narrative surrounding these matchups. It's fascinating to analyze how these elements impact the outcomes of high-profile bouts.
