Great fight. Difficult to predict for me with all things considered.

Hope Ortiz can make it through his next scheduled fight without picking up an injury or cut- because this is a great fight if it happens.
And Ortiz isn't going to fold easily under fire, it will be a good learning fight for Timmeh again because he definitely isn't going to have it all his own way.
Can't wait

This fight is great. Really great. But somtimes I think Tim tszyu is too much of a beast for his own good.

This for not belt, away, 4 months after a war, off a loss… it’s too much.

Should be rematch if Fundora really. But if not should be having a tune up in Aus. Butttt, I hope due to Tim being a rare weapon if he takes a loss they back his comeback.

Woah! This should be a cracker. I loved watching Ortiz's very tight pressure style, but just wonder how much his illness has affected him.

On paper it’s a barnstormer.
A lot to like about both, especially someone who hasn’t heard the final bell in 20 bouts.
I’m going out on a limb and picking Tszyu inside the distance.
His level of competition is better, especially at 154 pounds.
Ortiz record at 147 is hardly full of killers and I don’t see how snacking the crap out someone like Thomas Dulorme (blown up lightweight with close to 2 yrs inactivity) is the best preparation he could have for someone like Tszyu.
That said, a 21st consecutive short night won’t totally shock me either.
But I’ll take Tszyu sometime afte the midway point

Surprised but kinda glad to see Ortiz back in it with quality opponents. We'll get a better idea of how good he is here. Ortiz by TKO.

The Saudi’s again. They are here to stay and I love it. Love they are taking it to America and hopefully England soon. Best thing that’s happened to boxing for a long long time.

Fight I never knew I wanted to see but dear lord it will deliver.

Tim has been well-managed against beatable opposition, sometimes against past-their-best. Even his last opponent was coming off a bad KO loss (I realize he was a fill-in). Nothing wrong with it, good management overall. Ortiz obviously doesn’t have the fights at 154, but not sure his overall opposition has been worse. Without Ortiz being effed up by illness I would pick him by TKO around 8 or 9, but not sure at this point if he beats Tim

So does Ortiz win or not?
In the same sentence you’re saying that he wins in 8-9, but also questioning whether he can win at all?
I’m confused buddy.
That said, I don’t really know who wins this thing either.
Perhaps the guy who gets off in a big way first.
Neither should lose any respect for making this match

Tim Tszyu unable to fully spar, won't take on Vergil Ortiz in Aug.

Tim Tszyu has been forced to withdraw from his Aug. 3 fight against Vergil Ortiz on the advice of his doctor, who said the former champion can't yet resume full-contact sparring following the gruesome scalp cut he suffered in an upset loss to Sebastian Fundora in March, promoter George Rose announced.

The highly anticipated junior middleweight fight was set to take place on the undercard of the Terence Crawford-Israil Madrimov title fight in Los Angeles, the first Riyadh Season event outside Saudi Arabia.

Tszyu, the son of Hall of Fame boxer Kostya Tszyu, suffered a split decision defeat to Fundora in one of the bloodiest fights in recent memory. The 29-year-old Australian suffered a deep gash on his hairline in Round 2 following an accidental elbow, a cut that affected his vision the remainder of the bout.

"We are bitterly disappointed with the setback, and Tim is extremely frustrated after a great precamp with Kostya," Rose, the CEO of No Limit Boxing, said. "He showed everyone that he'll fight through anything against Fundora, but this decision was taken out of his hands to be honest. Ultimately, it was his body and medical professionals telling him he wasn't ready yet."

Tszyu (24-1, 17 KOs) is ESPN's No. 2 junior middleweight. Ortiz (21-0, 21 KOs) is No. 4 at 154 pounds. He will remain on the undercard against a replacement opponent, sources said.

Serhii Bohachuk, ESPN's No. 6 junior middleweight, is in the running to replace Tszyu. Bohachuk scored a career-best win on the Tszyu-Fundora undercard, a decision victory over Brian Mendoza.

"Serhii is in a great position as the WBC interim champion and mandatory challenger, but is definitely interested in the fight with Vergil," Bohachuk's promoter, Tom Loeffler, told ESPN. "Serhii lives and trains in L.A. as does Vergil, so it would be the perfect L.A. fight if the fight can be made."

Ortiz, a 26-year-old Texan, made his 154-pound debut in January with a first-round TKO victory against Fredrick Lawson. That was Ortiz's first bout in 17 months.

Since March 2022, Ortiz has withdrawn from three fights because of health issues related to rhabdomyolysis, a condition that occurs when damaged muscle tissue releases its proteins and electrolytes into the blood. He returned in April with another first-round KO, this time against Thomas Dulorme.

The Riyadh Season main event between Crawford and Madrimov still will be supported by a compelling slate of fights. Isaac Cruz defends his WBA junior welterweight title vs. Jose Valenzuela, and Andy Ruiz takes on Jarrell Miller in a heavyweight bout.
