Unfortunately, I cannot think of Garcia without thinking his awful encounter with Bernard Benton.

Yes, that stoppage was horrible. In fact, there was not even a stoppage. The referee simply let it go and counted Benton out. I was never that impressed by Garcia. He always appeared a bit stiff and wooden. I'm glad he's doing okay and appears to be enjoying himself.

Shocking wasn't it, even worse than Duran - Moore. That and blowing a potential fortune against Foreman by getting Ko'd by the unheralded but dangerous Mike Dixon

He was offered a million bucks to fight Bowe for the title but his manager tuned it down. He also sparred with Mike Weaver. Those are just 2 examples of topics that would have been interesting.

Always liked Mike Weaver. He gave Larry Holmes a real battle for the world heavyweight title in the Garden in 1979 when nobody gave him a chance. He was clearly a much better fighter than his record suggested and after a couple of wins, he got a second crack against John Tate in Knoxville in 1980. Tate was unbeaten and fighting in his home city but had never overly impressed and Weaver, who possessed plenty of stamina for a muscled fighter, outlasted him on a thrilling 15-round knockout. Weaver's stamina also won the day against the dangerous Gerrie Coetzee and a reluctant James Tillis in defences of the title but Mike Dokes jumped on him for a controversial first-round win in 1982, although Weaver held the fast-living Dokes to a 15-round draw a few months later.

Wasn’t he also in the running for Foreman’s 1st defense, the one that went to Axel Schulz?

Garcia's manager turned down $375,000 to fight Foreman. Garcia took a bout for 13 grand instead and got beat.
