Fury v Usyk
£24.95 on Sky Box Office.
Only ever bought one, that was Tyson v Bruno II in 1996 (£9.99).
Sky have increased my bill this month by nine quid.
Anyone else had a big bill increase and are you paying for the fight ?

Undecided, says on TNT ring walks are at 11pm for the main event which means the fight starting towards midnight . I'm not sure why they can't have the first bell for the fight at 10pm ?

I Don't buy them out of principle. It would be nice to know how many people do buy these "special events" as the rip-off merchants, er sorry, SKY, call them. No figures are ever made public to my knowkedge...

It used to be £10 in the 70s to watch an Ali fight at the Odeon on closed circuit, which was a lot back then.
Imagine the viewing figures if Fury Usyk was on BBC1 at 10pm !!

I’ll be paying for it. Me and a buddy take it in turns. Whoever hosts gets the PPV and pays for the takeaway and then it’s on the other to host next time.

I understand why people don’t pay. Especially when times are tough. However this is a fight/show I don’t want to miss. Really looking forward to the main, co-main and a few of the other fights.

Everyone’s perception of value is different. It doesn’t seem long ago to me when the cinema was £5/£6 a ticket and it didn’t break the bank to buy a drink and popcorn. Now I rarely go and when I do I take a bag of popcorn in with me!

Yep - absolutely. I was going to go but a mate invited me to see Bruce Springsteen in Dublin. We will watch it together. It's hardly a fortune.

Cost isn't the point, I'm sure most of us can easily afford it. It's the principle for me. Boxing in the UK should never have opened the PPV floodgates, especially when the broadcasters are blatantly ripping the piss with it. They even show adverts throughout, ffs.

I'm swaying towards not paying it but may change my mind. If I don't will just listen on the radio instead.

I paid 30 quid to see Frank Skinner on Saturday and nothing much on next weekend so may give it a go.

It's not going to be a good watch. No doubt there'll be some controversy - far easier to watch it next day ... or avoid if reports too bad.

It’s worth 25 quid, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime event. Two of the worlds best collide and they’ll probably never fight again

At the fights in Las Vegas one pint was nearly same cost as this PPV. 25 fookin bucks.

It may be terrible, it may be fantastic. But you’ll

Anyone who talks about PPVs and principals etc is not living on this planet, big fights don’t happen without the big bucks

Brighton mate. We are in the £6.50 to £7 range for a pint here, so you’d get a bit of change from £25.

However, I paid £33 for 3 negronis yesterday afternoon that we drank in under 5 minutes.

Last week I paid £22 for two Burger King meals, £25 for fish and chips and spent £10 a day in Starbucks.

This is a huge fight, featuring a P4P great for all the heavyweight championship baubles. There is loads of beef/intrigue/unknowns going in. It has a 200 page thread on here!

Why wouldn’t I pay £25?

The sporting quality of the contest is largely irrelevant to me in this scenario. It’s all about the drama and watching it unfold in real time with loved ones around me!

I'll be working at a show on Saturday, so unless we finish at such a time I get home early enough, then I won't be paying.

If I wasn't working, then I would be buying it. Compared to a lot of other events in the past year or so, this is one that is actually worthy of PPV status. Whilst the price is annoyingly higher than it used to be, I don't begrudge this one as much as a lot of others.

BB - agreed it may not be about the actual amount of money it costs and if you have your principles I fully respect that. Whether we like it or not, that's just the new business model. As a counter argument, a lot more top level fights are happening than in a long time because they are being better remunerated due to PPV.
