This should take the conversation away from Fury for a bit.

Oh dear.

I'm not a fan of this. Chisora looks very shopworn these days,. Mind you Joyce not looking too great either.

Someone is definitely getting fcked up here.

Even if he wins, Chisora is going to have to take more punishment, in a career filled with tough, tough fights.

From a commercial viewpoint, completely understand why this fight is being made. It just makes me feel slightly uneasy that it's happening - Chisora looked shot in Parker II, and hasn't looked much better since.

The problem is that both men have shown they can be hit in recent fights, and have taken a lot of shots. Joyce looked awful against Zhang in the 2nd fight, like his punch resistance had gone. I know Zhang can hit, but Joyce came apart at the seams rapidly.

Chisora should jack it in, he surely cannot need the money any more.

He might. I mean Chisora was in a lot of big fights, but was always the B side. I'd think he'd be well off financially, but probably not so well off that he's set for the rest of his life.

Fcuks sake this is going to be pure car crash TV. I’ve given up being worried about Chisora’s long term health- if he doesn’t care, I’m not going to either.
Bring on the carnage.

He's had some big paydays, been on lots of PPV's, and by all accounts has invested his money wisely.

I doubt he's fighting because he needs money now, I think he just cannot let go.

I mean, what's he going to do at this stage of his career - he won't get another title shot - well, i suppose he could potentially get another crack at the IBF title as a voluntary defence, I hope not, he's had a tonne of shots already, and doesn;t deserve any more.

Oh don't worry. He won't get one for sure. Joe Joyce is gonna beat the sh*t out of him. Easy.

Loser leaves town. Winner leaves town if it's Chisora too.

You'd think so - but there were some worrying signs for Joyce against Zhang - although Chisora was never anything like the puncher Zhang was, and definitely isn't now.

I'll be watching this through my fingers, going to be a painful night's work.

In all seriousness, that would probably make fights like these more marketable to Boxing fans if they stole that 'ol tactic from Rasslin.

Guys that are in the position these guys are in. Maybe it can't be enforced that you can't keep the guy from fighting around the World, but the loser is banned from ever fighting in England by the BBBoC. Which would effectively mean the end of their careers anyway.

You'd only wanna do that in a severe case where you know one of the guys needs to hang 'em up, but I think this is one such case.

The loser doesn't need to go on in the sport, and I don't think you'd be able to find any Boxing fan who doesn't agree with that.

Reminder: Most boxers don't have any education or skills outside of the sport. Why would you want to take away their only way to really earn money?

They want to fight, let them fight. It will probably be very entertaining while it lasts.

I just figure it'd be a good marketing gimmick honestly. I wouldn't care that much if they honored the stipulation or not. There's very few cases when I think a guy should be forced to retire from the sport, but there should probably an age limit or if there's some indication of obvious brain damage obviously somebody probably needs to step in, but that should be the people around him more so than the commissions.

Joyce is one of the few "contenders" that I'd give even a shop worn Chisora a chance vs - One slow heavyweight vs another slow heavyweight - cut you just think that Chisora's punch resistance seems to be on the decline also - so have to favour Joyce.

I am more confident that they will have a social media burger at the end of the fight in the changing room - that is getting a bit boring now also.

Not really sure what Joyce gets from this fight. I fear Joyce will just end up being badly knocked out again at some point, unlikely by Chisora but someone down the line. You can only be in so many hard fights or knocked out before your punch resistance disappears.

A win, and the chance to build back toward another big fight if he can keep the momentum going. I figure the train of thought his manager has in mind leads to him fighting Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury at some point.

But he's gonna need more than a win over Chisora to be taken seriously as an opponent at that level.

In terms of Action this could be a hell of a fight actually. Unless one of them's punch resistance is so gone he goes down early, but I suspect we'll get least 6 to 7 rounds of a back and forth slugfest out of this bout.

One thing for sure, there won't be much in the way of shucking and jiving, neither man is exactly light on their feet.

Not all boxers need to be fighting at world level. They are happy to step into the ring for a good payday and a potential high profile fight for the winner and I'm sure it will sell a lot of tickets. Should be a war.

I like this for what it is, will be two very hard guys fighting. I think Joyce gets a stoppage and is back in the game.
