Puello v Russell

Anyone see this fight ?
It was actually a very good bout, close on my card but I gave Puello the nod.
Russell fought well and gave a good account of himself.
Puello's boxing ability was very impressive at times even though I felt Russell's output early on was drowning out some of Puello's work.
As the fight went on Puello came into his own and nudged ahead on my card and took a split decision win overall.
Very entertaining bout I enjoyed it.

I scored it 114-113 Russell in real time on the RBR due to the ridiculous point deduction from Puello. Would have had it a draw. I have 0 problem with Puello getting the decision. There were several very close rounds that could easily go either way.

Good eye, took the words out of my mouth, you saw that too.
That was a sneaky slick move from the referee.

Yeah, watched it live, too.

Felt Peullo deserved the win but it was tight. Felt he was really picking it up in the last few rounds and Russell, for all his 17 KO's streak, never hurt him at all.

Peullo kind of knew that and was beginning to bang harder, as the rounds went on. A close, but fair winner, imo, in a good fight.

I thought Russell edged it. Hope they rematch.

I like Russell. Watched this in a bar with a few other boxing fans that were sitting round the bar (which was fornicating lovely). I didn't score it but it felt to me that Puello won clearly. But we all know that watching a fight while chatting & scoring a fight round by round are two very different things.

But as the fight ended I said to the other blokes (my new best friends) that Russell learnt more from that bout than all the others with the possible exception of Postol, who I know is a decent operator.

I don't think Russell should have an immediate rematch but he is approaching 30 so he'll need to get a move on. There's some proper young guns at 135 who will be moving up in a year or two.

Good fight. I wanted Gary to win (from the DMV)dinosaur game, but I can't complain.

That 118-109 was...odd.
