Ray Mercer vs. John Ruiz

12 (or 15) Rounds Heavyweight Bout

Mercer would counter Ruiz's clinching tactics behind his long jabs and left-right combinations on the face. If Ruiz tied him up, Mercer would free both of his arms quick and pounded him on the body to take a decision. What do you guys think and who do you got?

Mercer would beat the sh!t out of the clincher. Barely the tactics of Ruiz would confuse the Merciless brawler with such a high level of skillls and toughness. Mercer would troble the clumsy Ruiz with the jab and counter his clinching attempts with a delivery of pain.

Mercer by TKO inside 10.

Mercer was a bit of a plodder and Ruiz was a bit of a spoiler, but they could both box a bit.

Mercer punched hard but was not a Tua kind of hitter but could club you down. Ruiz would hold, spoil, jab and peck away and had a decent chin. Although neither could be termed quick, Ruiz had faster hands and tended to throw more punches.

Could see him taking a UD.

I feel like Mercer is a strong enough guy to be able to outstrength Ruiz in some of these clinches too. Ruiz has faster hands. Mercer hits harder, and takes a punch better.

I feel like it'd be a close, sloppy fight as per usual with Ruiz, but I can seen Mercer being able to catch him at some point and stop him.

Assuming Mercer was on his game (not a given) he would beat Ruiz easily. Ruiz never outworked anyone. Ruiz was a nothing who just tried to clinch and clinch in order to make it a close fight. However, that's not enough to beat a quality fighter. Mecer would probably stop him in the mid-rounds.
