Gary Young - should he be stepping up now?

Ricky Burns, who beat Graham Earl last month, is due to fight...

...as is John McDermott. Any opinions on him. Can he still be "the great white heavyweight hope" or is he just a useless lumbering clutz?

McDermott has potentially, domestically at least. But he really needs to sort out his conditioning. He's better than Krence but deserved to lose - he was terribly out of shape in my view.

I've always liked the look of Gary Young since I saw him on the Harrison v McCullough undercard. I to hope it is a step up in the qualitity of opposition.

But of a revelation to me, and I am sure others with his big win last time out. It will ne intereting to see if he can build on his win against Earl.

Never been too excited about Big John, he seems to lack that certain 'spark' you like to see in young fighters. I will be surprised if he ever gets past domestic level.

But he is still young for a Heavyweight so you never know.....

Would like to see Gary Young step it up a little bit now.

Ricky Burns is a good prospect.

McDermott is going nowhere until he starts running.

Earl doesn't need to worry about that loss, IMO. Got totally 'out styled'. He should look to the Bennet fight and move on.

'Out styled'? That's a new one on me. He got his ears boxed off. On the night, Bennett would have sparked him early doors. He needs to address what went wrong or he is going down mate.

Either way, not quite sure Earl is quite as "desperate to set the record straight" as Franky Boy thinks he is.

While I do think he was 'exposed' in that fight, I'm not sure many fighters other than Burns (or ones like him - tall, tricky, etc) would have troubled Earl too much. He kept marching in but constantly got clipped on the side of the head ( ) over and over, before Burns would dive out the way; rinse, repeat. I think Bennett will provide more of a fight for him, and he'll look better in that fight. 8)

i hear gary young is boxing brett james which is a step up as he rated
higher than gary and its an eight rounder.
a title shot is definately close
