Another crushing loss for the beast Makhmudov

Caught too much and with a nasty swollen eye the fight was stopped in the 8th round.

It's a good win for Guido Vianello who is back on track again.

This Italian is highly thought of in top rank and despite only having had a few fights in his pro career he`s been in deep and definitely believes in himself.

What you see is what you get with Vianello, he has a very upright style, we used to call it the European style. Similar to Charles Martin he has some decent skills but is open to the big overhands like we saw against Johnnie Rice.

You can see why top rank like him tho, he's always in exciting fights.

As for Makhmudov? He's not going to go much further and probably doesn't need to many more fights like that.

Vianello could make himself a good gatekeeper opponent. This is a good win for him but he lost to Rice who is worse than Makhmudov and drew against Ibeh who is much worse. He lost a split to Ajagba which is pretty impressive considering where Ajagba is currently ranked.

He could get some good paychecks and some possible upsets against other opponents in the top 25. For those that are much better than him, he would give them good questions and the all important rounds before stepping up to world level.

Vianello has shown great improvement last couple of fights against good opposition. Rice he was winning till cut. Somewhat ran out of gas which no longer seems to be a problem. Takes risks he probably shouldn’t but also makes him exciting. Thought his last fight could have been a draw as well against Aja. Could be a tough middle contender if they don’t throw him in all the toughest fights immediately. Seems to be much more comfortable in the ring now than those stiff first fights I saw him in on ESPN. Good mental win last night as he had been stopped by him in amateurs.

guido boxed really well his last 2. he seems more mobile than when he started his pro career, could be that better opponents bring out the best in him. looks a good test for 15-25 types

I'd never noticed Makhmudov shaking his head like that before - was it a nervous type movement or directly related to his eye?

It's hard to see where he goes now. Maybe a gatekeeper type himself now.

he's always done it constantly, ppl have commented on it for a few years at least

Makhmudov got rocked a number of times.
His eye was almost shut and he buckled.
He needs a rest and a new trainer.
