Medina really put it together for a while, outscoring Antonio Beccera in a 12-rounder (the only man to beat Salvador Sanchez) and kayoing Manuel Vazquez in seven rounds (a man who embarrassed reigning world champ Lupe Pintor). Medina gets a shot if he beats Alfonso Zamora in June 1978, particularly as Carlos Zarate was always itching to defend his bantamweight belt, but the heavy hitting Zamora came through.

Hello,
I am searching for any information on a fighter named "Sontag". I do not know if this was his first or last name or his "fighting name". I know he fought a fight at the City Park Arena in Toledo, Ohio on July 28th, (give or take a day) in 1904. He fought Edward Gloman. The reason I am inquiring is Edward Gloman was my great-grandfather and he died about a month later due to bleeding on the brain from the fight. It was probably an amateur fight, but I do not know for sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bruce Thornberry

What age would your great-grandfather have been in 1904 and do you know what weight he boxed at?
