Happening in Manchester in a few months time.
Fair play to both for taking it. Hopefully Jamie TKV v Franklin Ignatius ends up being for the Southern area and we get some activity back into our area level belts again.

Fisher is still listed as the champion on the BBBofC website. I'd like to see the Area belts contested more, the Southern is by far the most active (across the weights) but the others less so. As you say, they are proper belts better than an IBO Intercontinental Silver or such like...

Johnny Fisher made a video announcing he was vacating so that Nick Webb vs Harry Armstrong could be for the Southern area. That fight then goes and falls through.

Great news! Area titles are the historical backbone of the British domestic scene so great to see two quality heavyweight prospects wanting to fight for the Central Area strap.
Looking forward to the day when two boxers fight for the Celtic heavyweight title! There has been a fair few fighters from the regions concerned who could have fought for it but haven't but I am sure it will happen sometime soon!

Hopefully to be resurrected as that is a good scrap worth paying for.

Looks like Webb vs Courtney Bennett for the Southern Area, on the Gilley-Greene card (according to the Boxrec schedule)

I do have to say I'm happy when these kind of fights get TV time. Hopefully it ends up as part of the broadcast.
I remember watching Michael Sprott knocking out Colin Kenna some 20+ years ago on the bbc. Funnily enough I’m sad enough to remember that fight was meant to be Michael Sprott v Julius Francis. One of the fights along with Danny Williams v Herbie Hide around 2004 for the European Union title (purse bids were won, date and venue was set, Hide gets badly cut and loses due to the cut and the fights f ucked) that I really wish had happened.

Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish fighters can box for that can’t they? Republic of Ireland fighters as well?
Moses Jolly vs Jay McFarlane may be a decent fight for that title as long as both are eligible.

really do agree with this. The Central area title seems to be rarely contested rarely. I remember watching the Midland HW title contested live when Lee Swaby beat Butlin for it. Always been a fan of this belt.

The first time I saw Sprott was when he lost to Harry Senior for the Southern Area title. Think he was undefeated up till that point. Never thought he'd go on to have the career he did. Strange to think he never fought Francis, he seemed to fight everyone else - multiple times in a few cases.
