Chaos, Andre battered to an inch of his life —-insane cornermen do nothing, hapless referee has no idea what’s going on. The bell goes early, so he gets to come out to round 3 to ge absolutely coldcocked in the next round no doubt.

God knows how the very brave kiwi lasted that third round, stayed close and somehow avoided any more bombs but he’s on borrowed time here. I don’t think he takes a punch particularly well needless to say.

The kiwi is tough as…. But looks like man against boy. The only chance is the weight issue and jet lag if it goes late

Yeah, he’s looking for a miracle here hanging in there hoping the weight issues kick in late. I don’t know how he survived that second, well I do: a completely incompetent referee, a normal referee wouldve waved that off I think. Plus a bizarre early bell

Good points. Kiwi boy so brave. But wasn’t an impressive performance from a guy who was levels above

Disgraceful performance form Janibek. Pulled his punches all night, threw arm punches for the majority of the fight. Admitted afterwards he was getting rounds in. Stood off in round 2 when Andrew was dead to rites. Had ample opportunity (and I mean AMPLE) to absolutely butcher Andrew with clean punches due to Andrew being way too open coming in. I've watched Janibek for years and years, trust me - he was fighting at 20% and carrying Andrew all night. Instead of finishing the job in round 2, Janibek hemmed and hawwed all night throwing pitter patter combos here and there until he decided to end it in the 9th. One of the first full blooded punches he threw since the second round for me. I don't want to see fellows carrying fights into the later rounds to get some rust off. Andrew had no chance and was walking in like a zombie. I was very put off by the Bentley performance which he also p*ssed around in for large parts. I'll give Andrew credit for his attempts but it was overshadowed by Janibek getting rounds in and wasting my time. Great fighter but I won't be watching him again that's for sure. I'm too long in the tooth to be watching guys carrying opponents all night.

I'm not sure if in general the timekeeper is the same guy who does that clapper sound with 10 seconds left or gives the cue to a guy to do it but I think it is..

Let me just give my opinion on that early bell. What follows is only my own opinion and I have no idea if this actually happened or not. Some aussie corruption was on show there for me. I refuse to believe that a TIMEKEEPER gets it wrong ever. I mean how much of a genuine idiot do you have to be to be unable to operate a stopwatch. It's literally the press of a button and then you leave the clock running. You even have a huge screen in the arena with the round timer on it if you just look up at the screen to see it. Every single time that a timekeeper has made a mistake I am 100% going to believe that it's nothing more than sheer corruption at play. It's no coincidence that the home fighter is always the guy who the timekeeper seems to be making the mistake on.

nasty beating, andrei tried but soaked up career changing punishment. janibek said he was trying to get rounds in and it only prolonged the beating. one of those fights where you have to look beyond the fact that a guy is merely fighting back and save him from himself. he stumbled or sagged dozens of times

im not sure of all the unified mw champs there have been, but janibek is pretty good. former world amateur champ and stud in the unpaid ranks. sharp left hands and a very well timed uppercut. decent power. but he doesnt seem to much much urgency to really get guys out of there and it can lead to these flat performances where he clearly wins but doesnt wow. something you see more with these guys who spent ages in the ams and were used to points win after points win. vs better opponents it could give them the chance to get back into things or to outwork him

mw is a bit of a shitter atm. charlo barely fights. an ancient lara beating up scrubs with the wba, adames an okay but not particularly impressive email champ with wbc, and jani here with the ibf/wbo - clearly a good fighter but not the star like ggg or canelo. sheeraz turned down a fight with him the other year, team must have not thought he was ready to go for it, but he should go for it if offered again

Andrei Mikhailovich is one tough SOB, took a trimming all night, the first 3 rounds especially, round 2 he was wobbled 3 or 4 times, ref could've stopped it there if he wanted, Alimkhanuly knocked Mikhailovich down with a big left right at the end of the round, you'd have thought Alimkhanuly would've get rid next round but he did go walkabout after hurting him a couple times, Mikhailovich wasn't winning much, Alimkhanuly tagged him with jabs and lefts, busted him up, Mikhailovich was a mess but he made it a dogfight and clipped Alimkhanuly a few times, he done incredibly well to last until the 9th but once that left rocked him on the ropes, finally the ref put him out his misery
