Thought it was worth starting this thread as while we (understandably) talk about Whittaker's shortcomings and the other drama from the Saudi bill, I think there's a real danger we don't give credit to someone who for purists like us surely typifies the spirit of boxing.
Here's a guy who has never had a proper promotional deal, was treated in an utterly disproportionate way by the boxing authorities and who after losing the peak years of his career has stepped back in the ring in a higher weight division and happily got in there to mix it with the likes of Arthur and Whittaker and been competitive in a way that few anticipated.
I saw someone on another thread refer to Cameron as a journeyman and I think that's a gross disservice to both his level and his ambition - I for one hope he gets the deal, the money and the fights he deserves after what played out this weekend. One story that 100% deserves a happy ending.

He's still a good domestic contender I think. He's getting back into it and he's been fucked about a lot.

Not right to say he never had a promotional deal, was with Hobson for years who got him the commonwealth title.

On coming back he signed up with that Arif(so) fella, and now has had a couple of title fights as the away fighter

I see that he’s just been signed to Queensbury after Saturdays showing, so hopefully he can kick on. I don’t know what he weighed Saturday night but it looked to me that he could probably move down in weight to give himself the best chance.

Thought he did well against Lyndon Arthur. A very hard man. Looked like he was on the verge of wearing Whittaker down before the latter bottled it.

I think he will get something and it'll come good. It wasn't a white wash against Arthur. He was on his way to beating Whitaker and no shame in losing to Zac Dunn who was on fire at the time. He's a genuine good watch I think.

He has def put himself in line for some paydays, won't be fighting in 8 rounders any more.
Nice to see after the treatment he had.

That was a proper performance by Cameron, was really impressed. Exposing Whittaker was no easy feat, he basically outmanned him.

Proper respect to Cameron he's a throwback.

Been around for ages it seems some real memorable names from the British scene way back when on his record.

Hope he gets some big fights and can pick up a title.

Credit where credit is due .
The great majority of most people would have walked away from the sport given his treatment.
It’s great to see him back and hopefully making a few quid for himself and his family.

He certainly had claimed that, but he was being economical with the truth!
Maybe it was because he never had a deal with the big boys, now he has one with FW.
I think FW has done this to force a rematch as I think Shalom won't want it.

I thought you were pretty restrained in your comments after the fight.. I mean surely you must’ve thought he pulled you over the ropes to avoid a beating. That’s what it looked like

I’ll be honest I’ve never been sold on Arthur, I think he dropped lucky that Yarde underestimated him first time round & Whittaker’s unproven as a pro so it’s hard to gauge the level of Cameron’s performances but I’ve huge respect for him for sticking at it & taking fights as a huge underdog.

I thought he was headed for victory on Saturday night.
