An interesting story.
Kovalev, born in '83, Beterviev, born in '85.
Being in the same Amateur generation at the same weight, they were competing against each other in the Ams and had a controversial rivalry with real bad blood.
Beterbiev won back then and continued his amateur career successfully, while Kovalev went pro and achieved huge success there.
When Kovalev was a unified 3-belt champion, Beterbiev was wasting time with poor opposition in the pros, by many opinions, and Kovalev publically trashed him in an absolutely vulgar manner.
Eventually, Kovalev went shot at about 37 years old, suffered alcohol problems, while Beterbiev became and undispited 4-belt champion at the age of 39.
Boxing is wild.

I hate this reddit spacing on everything now. You don't have some incredibly dramatic or important point to make to the communitay, just write a damn normal paragraph.
Yes yes, Beterbiev and Kovalev had different careers due to a variety iof factors. It's all a rich tapestry. So amazing and wild.

Fvck your non reddit spacing. It’s an informal forum setting, no one wants to read 7 scentance paragraphs.
Space away people, I for one much rather reading mini paragraphs or dot points or a hybrid of the two.

Well, if they had fought in 2015, I don't believe Beterbiev would've won
I can't really pin point any time where I would've favored Beterbiev accept maybe 2019-20, but then COVID happened...

Head to head OR accomplishments?
I think AB is the overall better fighter and slightly higher ranked in an all time sense, BUT Kovalev is the more accomplished pro.

How do you think, that Kovalev is more accomplished, while you rank Bert higher historically? Isn't it the same stuff in different words?

Prime vs Prime would be an interesting fight. I'd have Artur bc he is a more complete fighter, more disciplined and of course much stronger.

Beterbiev called out Kovalev after he beat Campillo in 2015, after only 8 pro bouts

Kovalev is more accomplished? Because he beat 50-year old Hopkins or Pascal? Otherwise, he lost to all elite fighters he faced. Of course, at least one of Ward losses was very controversial.
