Isn't it now just a digital print merely pushing it's own rankings?

Maybe Turki's way of making his own champions.

He may have done. Your gut instinct is normally correct. On the ring site are the words "coming soon".

If he brings back the magazine in print then I'm all for it. I Miss buying it. Hopefully it won't be three months behind like it was before !!!

I have a feeling that he might try and manoeuvre the alphabet belts to one side. The real champion wears The Ring belt etc. Let's face it, he's got that much money and clout to do it. If he offered the #1 and #2 huge money to fight each other, but with one condition, drop all the belts, I think it would happen.

The problem will be when he gets bored of that which is what Dana White did. We will get to see the best against the best when he wants to see the best against the best until what he wants to see isn't what everyone else wants to see (Fury vs Ngannou or Opetaia vs Zorro for example). It would therefore essentially become the same as the alphabet orgs but with less bureaucracy.

Nah. He didn't advertise the Opetaia fight as a massive best vs best mega super fight. It was an undercard fight. Usyk got an Undisputed belt when he beat Fury, but now DDD is somehow the IBF champion, which means Usyk's not the undisputed any more. That is sheer madness and it ain't Turki's fault. If the Ring belt is only given to the top of the top, which it traditionally was, then it can't be a bad thing.

Opetaia dropped the belt and took the Zorro fight instead of the Briedis rematch because that's the fight Turki wanted for him (at Frank's advice no doubt). The people wanted the Briedis rematch or at least the likes of Riakporhe or CBS.

The Ring belt is assigned to a fight at the desire of the guys in charge, the same as the alphabet orgs. All that would be changing is the guy in charge. Right now, I am just stating examples of pointless fights that have been chosen over the ones we want. Yes we have got some great fights too but that's because he wants it. He has also wanted some silly matchups and what happens when he wants more silly matchups?

1. The Opetaia thing was a lot more complicated than that. Briedis himself said he was happy to wait until after the Zorro fight. Before that, Briedis was unavailable.

2, If the Ring belt is vacant, it can only be contested for by the Ring's #1 rated fighter and the #2 or the #3 in certain circumstances. That's been the way for a lot of years. So far, he's given us Usyk-Fury and Beterbiev and Bivol. If some bad fights and silly matchups have been made along the way, then so be it.

Can see that.

But the rankings voting panel has got to be completely unbiased and have all boxers included of course. Only way to make it fair.

Like the TBRB panel.

Turki should use the Boxrec forum votes as the true rankings. Makes the most sense

Hard one is'nt it , shout , cheer and support King TuT TUT , FOR TRYING TO GIVE US ONE BELT ONE CHAMP WHICH WE HAVE ALL BEEN HOPING FOR FOR YEARS and hope that while he is holding the purse strings corruption is a lot less

Go against it and carry on with alphabet belts and corruption , bad discisions , and rankings that are just bullshit

Boxing puts all of its eggs into the basket of one man funded by an oil state.

What could possibly go wrong.

Many boxers might just retire or become inactive if they're going to get paid a fraction of what they were before.

A lot of boxers are taking much better fights.

Who knows where Bakole and Kabayel would be if it wasn't for Turki?

And we've fizzled out others like Efe, Sanchez and Makhmudov..

Although, they're stlil there.

I have concerns. I remember when golden boy bought Ring people thought back then that this could monopolise boxing. I do have some doubts / concerns that boxing is just about who Turki enjoys having nice lunches with etc.

At the moment the British promoters are having a whale of a time, but is that all of boxing? At the moment, the focus has been on the Heavyweights (with bits and bobs elsewhere) but it will be very interesting if guys like Kabeyel will EVER get their title shot - unless they go to bed with either Warren or Hearn (and maybe Shalom) first.

They are saying Turki loves boxing - at the moment we just keep seeing the same - 4 or 5 names being recycled and all tied to a promoter.

Actually my point - in post above- I think the opposite to you here and why are they getting constantly overlooked for the likes of Wilder, Joshua and Ngannou (FFS). There is still no talk of Kabayel vs Dubois, or Kabayel vs anyone else. Bakole hit a mini jackpot out in the states - but hasn't got a big fight lined up yet. Yes he has been placed into an eliminator with Kabayel - but they aint fought yet.

It's been a year since Turki got involved.

So far so good.

Will Turki have a say in the Ring mag rankings? Who knows.

but we as boxing fans will notice if that is the case.

Ring cover all weights. So i guess for me, im just gonna wait and see what happens.

And what happens if Turki pulls the money out or for some reason is unable to invest it after these guys have made millions. Will they go back to fighting for £100k? Because it's unsustainable for them to be paid what they're getting right now without making huge losses.

What about if someone refuses to call him His Excellency? Is he going to blacklist that guy who could be one of the top guys in the division?

What now happens to likes of Ajagba and Sanchez? Has he no interest or little interest in them despite being top 15 guys? Will he recycle them at all or will they be forgotten. He seems to have an interest in Fury, Usyk, Joshua, Dubois, Parker, Zhang and Chisora but who else is next?

There are just interesting questions in my opinion and the idea that there can only be a positive outcome is naive. It may be smooth sailing for fans and boxers alike but the boxing business rarely ever is.
