On this date, 30 years ago, Big George Foreman, became the WBA World Heavyweight and Lineal World Heavyweight Champion for the second time. He was 45 years old. He stopped champion Michael Moorer in 10 rounds with a wicked right hand shot.
It was one of the most historical fights in boxing history.
Twenty years earlier, Foreman lost the Heavyweight crown to the great Muhammad Ali in Kinshasa, Zaire by a stunning 8th round knockout.
It was a big night of redemption for Foreman. He attempted to win back the title in April 1991 against Evander Holyfield, but lost by unanimous decision.
But, on this night, Foreman redeemed himself wearing the same old red trunks that he wore in Zaire against Ali. And also this time, he didn't had no hair at all. He shaved it all off years before this fight took place.
This win against Moorer puts Foreman in the list of the top 10 greatest heavyweights of all-time.
