Robert Stieglitz vs Edison Miranda

This bout was scheduled for January of 2010.

Miranda was coming off a decision loss to Andre Ward and was receiving another title shot against, at that time, newly-minted WBO champ Rob Stieglitz.

Couple of weeks before the fight, Miranda withdrew with the flu.

I think, it would've been an exciting scrap given the styles of both fighters.

How would you rate Miranda's chances at finally grabbing the belt?

Stieglitz fought mostly terrible title fight opposition but Miranda was unpredictable so I’ll go with him
By close decision in Germany

peak miranda would get him, at this point in his career eddy had lost a bit of spark though and it's an interesting fight. stieglitz improved after looking fragile earlier in his career and overachieved. id prob fave him to edge this one

You mean, you'd go with Stieglitz?

Interestingly, I did rewatch the Ward-Miranda fight about a week ago. Miranda didn't look shot there. On the contrary, I thought he was well-prepared and was game in spots. Even jabbed well with Ward from time to time.

Stieglitz was riding high after beating Karoly Balzay for the title. But his defense was almost always face-first. And he liked getting into shootouts. I think, stylistically that fight was a winnable one for Miranda even in 2010.
