Fighters who won twice despite being underdog

Recently watched 80`s 90`s action, Mark Wills stopping Greg Page twice, apparently both were upsets?
Some other examples, I think Sonny Liston was the fave in both the Ali fights.
Another weird example is the dude who won two title fights in a row against one of the Norris brothers....both by disqualification, so that's a bit of a cheat.
I can't think of any more off hand but there must be loads.

Oddly enough I think the Price-Thompson fights were both upsets because everybody assumed that the first fight was a fluke. Price did marginally better the second time but it's clear in retrospect that Price was not the credible contender many thought him to be.

You may be right with that one. Price gassed in the first fight but may well have been slightly favoured in the second. Two terrible fights to take for the Price team. At the time the logical progression would have been a fight with Sprott and probably another big ko win.

Good thread.
Both Page-Wills fights were definitely upsets, the latter being one of the most perfect knockdowns ever. I think it was Luis Santana who beat Terry Norris. Vernon Forrest beat Shane Mosley in back-to-back fights and I'm sure Sugar Shane was the betting favourite in both.

In the 80`s the decent US import Mark Lee had three fights in the UK.
A spirited loss to Trevor Berbick and then two wins over Noel Quarless.
Quarless was still a name at that point and despite losing the first fight on points would probably still have been slightly favoured in the rematch.
The shocking first round defeat was on the infamous night that saw Kaylor and Bruno also destroyed by American fighters

Surely Michael Spinks was the underdog in both Larry Holmes fights?

Wills is the biggest underdog of the boxer's listed. I wonder if there are any other similar examples.

Before the first fight, I thought fighting Thompson was like jumping up two levels at the same time.

Willie Meghan. Beat Jack Dempsey couple times. Fight a draw with him couple times also. Jack had a rough time with Willie.

Roberto Duran was the underdog in all of his 4 world title wins. Amazing!
He was the underdog against Ken Buchanan, Sugar Ray Leonard, Davey Moore and Iran Barkley fights and he won them all.

That's quite a stat, even though it's not the point of the thread.

That's not true. I just recognized the amazing feat done by the great Roberto Duran!
I don't think that there has been a fighter as the underdog 4 times in 4 different weight classes and won all the fights being the underdog.

Pretty sure he wasn't the favourite against Ken and he won the fight with an illegal blow.
