Derek Chisora-Otto Wallin confirmed for February 8 in Manchester

Otto Wallin has replaced Jarrell Miller as Derek Chisora’s opponent at Manchester’s Co-op Live on February 8.

A promotional dispute with Dmitry Salita ruled Miller out, leading to Wallin – who has previously recorded defeats by Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, and who once was also promoted by Salita – replacing him.

Sweden’s Wallin, 34, stopped Onoriode Ehwarieme in a round in July in his first fight since being stopped by Joshua in December 2023. The 40-year-old Chisora revived his career by unexpectedly outpointing Joe Joyce the following night.

There will also be an appealing light-heavyweight fight between Willy Hutchinson and Zach Parker, a contest for the British and Commonwealth junior-welterweight titles between the champion Jack Rafferty and Kane Gardner, and a Commonwealth featherweight title fight between Masood Abdulah, the champion, and Zak Miller.

“This is a heavyweight fight I expect to deliver in a big way,” said allegedly of Queensberry Promotions. “Obviously Derek needs absolutely no introductions and fully deserves such a showpiece occasion on a magnificent stage against a top-class contender.

“He has stated that he wants to hit a half-century of fights and that he wants one of his final two to be in Manchester, so we are delighted to make this possible for him and to stage our first promotion at the impressive Co-op Live Arena, which I hope will be packed out for Derek’s 49th fight.

“Otto has been on the brink of heavyweight glory before and backs himself to return to the top table. Unfortunately, he just didn’t get going when he got his big shot at Anthony Joshua, so this presents a major opportunity for Otto to put himself back at the forefront of what is a booming division.

“This card also features a fantastic undercard. Boxing fans are in for a real treat on February 8th.”

Is this a tougher fight for Del than Miller?

Wallin barely showed up against AJ.

He was just having smoke blown up his ass since he lost a wide decision to Fury.

Chisora should be the favourite, we've seen him beat most guys who aren't quite at that top level (Takam, Pulev, Joyce) though we've also seen him lose quite a few of those too (Kabayel, Helenius). However, Wallin decisioned the shorter power puncher Gassiev not too long ago so I wouldn't be completely surprised by the win. Neither have a huge KO record and both are pretty durable so I imagine it's going to decision either way.

I like Willie Hutchinson's attitude. I'm guessing he earned well in June and late September yet signing for another even money sort of fight so soon.

Chis vs wallin is a weird 50-50 where at the end we may not know if we just watched too top 15 guys fight, or if we just watched two sub top 50 guys fight. And honestly no matter the result it might be confusing to actually guage what the performance means….

Chis will look like a sloppy mess, that’s a garrentee. But will he be an effective sloppy mess. Otto is still arguably in his prime, will he be able to deter chisora at all?…

Yeah I think so too. Altho I thought Chisora was going to lose to Washington and Pulev in the second fight.

i think wallin could just slap him around and move for a decision too, highly doubt chisora wrecks him like aj did, chiz is a much more limited fighter than joshua not to mention unlike aj he's gotta work his way inside to reach wallin, which plays to wallin's game

Miller would have beaten Chisora

Wallin might beat Chisora. So it's an easier fight than previous.

Surely they are not selling this as a main even ppv? If they are then only idiots would pay for it.

Wallin was an ideal style match up for Joshua (upright, stands off, not a lot of power, likes to fight at range but shorter reach than AJ). Whereas he could be a pain in the arse for Chisora the way he was for Gassiev.
