Reminds me of Mike Perez another Ireland based Cuban. He was overweight for most of his career and in the twilight of his career when he was past his prime, he dropped down to cruiserweight and challenged Maris Breidis for the CW strap.

As Leprechaun states, a lot of Cubans lack discipline once they get of Cuba. Also a lot of them lose their primes to their amateur days and are considerably older than they claim to be once they turn professional.

Wouldn't surprise me if Luis Ortiz, the Cuban heavyweight who fought Wilder, is over fifty years old and Rigondeaux too.

Watched him live a few times here in Ireland. Amazing talent was Garcia. Should've gone to the very top but enjoyed the lifestyle too much, got too comfortable and drifted away. Sad as he was extremely skilled as you mention.

Assuming that was his real age of course, they don’t always tell the truth, look at Luis Ortiz

If Garcias chin held out he would have been a solid operator. Darren Sutherland was also a loss to that era. He'd have been in some big fights himself.
