Conor McGregor announces Logan Paul fight agreement and addresses UFC rumours

Conor McGregor has announced that he will face Logan Paul in a boxing match in India.

The shamed former two-weight UFC champion hasn't fought since suffering successive defeats to Dustin Poirier three years ago. But taking to social media this morning, the Irishman claimed he has made an agreement to take on influencer Paul in a boxing bout in India. However, the Dubliner denied speculation that he is set to return to the Octagon to face featherweight champion Ilia Topuria.

"The rumors of a bout with Topuria are false," McGregor posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Tuesday. "I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the octagon."

McGregor, 36, was last month found liable for the sexual assault of Nikita Hand in a Dublin hotel room in 2018. The disgraced brawler - who has vowed to appeal the verdict - was ordered to pay hair stylist Hand over £200,000 in damages in addition to her legal costs. His career was thrown into even further doubt after the UFC star admitted using cocaine and drinking during the events of December 2018.

But it appears Mac will now attempt to resurrect his fighting career by battling Paul - brother of Youtuber-turned-boxer Jake - before making his UFC comeback. Paul has fought just twice professionally, beating Dillon Danis in 2023 and losing to fellow celebrity boxer KSI in 2019.

He didn’t get charged by the police as the case was so weak. Even the civil case was for assault not rape.

Well of course not but the evidence was weak. I mean you could also argue the woman went after him for money and lied. Wouldn’t be the first time a woman lied about rape.

Look, she was no doubt messaging McGregor and seemed up for it (why else is he messaging a celebrity she doesn't know and lying to her boyfriend about going off with him. Her boyfriend at home with the kid by the way) but that doesn't mean McGregor didn't do it. The paramedics saying it was one of the worst cases of bruising they had ever seen. Not getting into a debate over it but to say the evidence was weak was a poor point in my view. Did she cover herself in glory with what was revealed at the trial though, absolutely not.

Truthfully none of us were in the courtroom so we didn’t hear the evidence. But I’m a little reticent on what I’ve heard to call Conor a rapist.

You are very much mistaken. The case was entirely about a sexual assault, namely rape. She could only bring a civil claim before a jury in the Irish High Court either for defamation or assault. Rape would amount to an assault for the purposes of the civil proceedings.

The Judge, Justice Alex Owens referenced rape in his summing up to the jury. This case was most definitely about rape. To suggest otherwise means you either don’t understand the proceedings or you didn’t follow them.

Compelling evidence against McGregor was that Nikita Hand’s tampon had to be surgically removed from her uterus and she had significant bruising to her entire body including her neck, which McGregor couldn’t account for. Who knows the truth.

She was on a massive bender and taking drink and cocaine and didn't recognise anything she was doing on CCTV footage so I doubt she had a clue what a tampon was at that point, or that she had one in. Clearly McGregor was implicated enough to be found guilty in the courts. I think the paramedics saying it was one of the worst cases of bruising on a woman that they had ever seen was compelling for the jury.

When a man gets accused of raped, whether found guilty or not, he is seen as guilty regardless .. no smoke without fire etc.

They should not name the accused until they are found guilty - being accused of that ruins lives too.
