It would be close. Ali will be sticking the jab and landing the occasional right hand while putting a lot of pressure. Usyk will land heavy body shots and work in the end of the rounds.

It would be close but I think Ali wins it 8-4 or 9-3 maybe scoring a flash Kd by caughting Usyk off balance.

Ali would get the better of one of the best southpaws in the heavyweight division in Usyk behind his great left jabs and long range combinations on the outside to take a decision at 9-3 under 12 rounds and 12-3 under 15 rounds.

Probably not by the time Ali fought him, but in his prime Floyd Patterson certainly was every bit as fast if not faster than Usyk.

Many of Ali's opponents would've been the same size give or take as an Usyk is, so I don't think it's necessarily that he's never seen the speed of Usyk. Usyk's great asset is his technical skill and strategic mind. He always seems to know what adjustments to make, and when to make them.

In answer to the question though. I'm favoring Ali in a head to head with Usyk.

Not farfetched at all, if to consider an amount of absorbed shots by Ali in bouts against the likes of Chuvalo and Frazier, as well as Ali's body attacking and defencing skills.

Fair point, but remember that Ali was fighting alot more frequently than today's heavyweights and admitted himself that if he trained to be in top shape for every fight he would have burned out quickly.

He was in top shape for Foreman, if we're going to compare him to Usyk I think it's only fair to assume that he's as prepared for Usyk as he was for Foreman or Norton 2.

Ali, pre-1974 or ‘75, decision. There is quite a bit of euphoria on boxrec over Usyk beating Fury again, but Ali isn’t Fury, or Joshua for that matter. Always questionable to post historic matchups right after an active fighter gets a big win

Think we should add a new spin on this and make it their fight is after fighting the others opposition only. Then we give Ali a shovel to exhume Usyk and we can make it happen.

Yeah, Frazier or Holyfield would be worse for Usyk than Ali.
