I'm planning to watch this fight today; I've never seen it. I've been told it's much closer than the judges scored it.
Anybody here remember this bout ?

Yes, it is a very good fight.
The scoring seems wide, but remember that in Australia at that time they scored a close round 10-9 and a clear round 10-8 even without knockdows.

2 judges gave Fenech every round. I had it 9-1 Fenech, in rounds.

Fenech was an amazing fighter. One of the greatest of the 1980s.
Probably the greatest Bantam of my lifetime.

If Jeff stays on his feet, he outworks him. The question is, does he hit the deck?

He was phenomenal at his peak wasn't he. I mean, he beat prime Azumah Nelson. I just don't think he was mentally the same after they robbed him.

This is accurate. I’ve been involved with the sport, seen countless fights , fought on undercards etc. that fight where Jeff didn’t get the nod had me irate. Paid to see that fight on pay per view at the uptown theater in Chicago. Big screen. It was the co main event of another big fight. Don’t remember who the main fight was.

Here is how I had it:
Jeff Fenech v Daniel Zaragoza 10 rounds
Round 1: 10-9 Fenech
Round 2: 10-10 Even
Round 3: 10-9 Fenech
Round 4: 10-8 Fenech (point deducted from Zaragoza for low blow)
Round 5: 10-9 Zaragoza
Round 6: 10-9 Zaragoza
Round 7: 10-9 Fenech
Round 8: 10-9 Fenech
Round 9: 10-9 Fenech
Round 10: 10-9 Fenech
Total: 98-92 Fenech
I should mention that Fenech was able to get away with a lot of rough stuff and it was laughable docking Zaragoza as opposed for what Jeff got away with

Tyson- Ruddock II as I recall. And Fenech was robbed, it wasn't even close.

It wasn’t close at all, Fenech just totally dominated the fight. He won easily. Fenech was not a huge puncher, his strength was the volume of punches that he could throw. The man was incredibly fit.
Zaragoza took plenty that night, and it was great to see him win a title himself a few years later
