Boxxer extend offer to Liam Cameron for Ben Whittaker rematch
Promoter Ben Shalom has said Boxxer has made an offer for Liam Cameron to rematch with Ben Whittaker.
The two light heavyweights met in Saudi Arabia last October in a fight the highly-touted former Olympian Whittaker was struggling in before the fighters crashed over the top rope and fell to the floor. Citing an injury, Whittaker said he was unable to continue and the fight was therefore ruled a technical draw after six rounds. Since then Cameron has been campaigning for a rematch.
Shalom says this rematch could now happen at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham in the middle of April, as the headline bout on a bill that would feature the return of heavyweight Frazer Clarke, who lost inside a round to Fabio Wardley on the same night in Riyadh.
Discussing the Cameron-Whittaker talks, Shalom told BS: “It’s weird because we got approached to make an offer, we made an offer, we were told it wasn’t enough, and we were told the number that would get it done, and then we offered the number that would get it done. Ben’s going to fight in April in the Midlands. We believe we’ve offered the money that they’ve asked for, I’m not sure what else there is.”
Asked to confirm whether that would be the main event at the venue, Shalom added: “If Liam takes it.”
Shalom said the trainer of Clarke’s possible foe has yet to sign off on the fight, but he is hoping a deal will be done soon.
“He’ll return in April in an interesting fight, which will be good to see,” added Shalom. “The fact that we’re talking about a Frazer Clarke fight in April, it’s surprising to me, but also really really motivating, because he came through a lot in October, mentally, physically. He’s been back in the gym this month, ready to go, and it will be a huge show in the Midlands.”
And before a possible return to Oakwell soccer stadium in Barnsley in May for another Callum Simpson fight – provided Simpson comes through the Steed Woodall fight on Saturday – Boxxer also have Martin Bakole fighting Efe Ajagba in a contest that was agreed some time ago.
Shalom is unsure whether that heavyweight clash will happen in the UK, but expects details to be announced “very soon”.
“That will probably happen at the end of April,” he said.
Shalom added that 140lbs contender Adam Azim, preparing to box veteran Sergey Lipinets on February 1 in London, “wants to be extremely active” in 2025, having last boxed in October, and he also said that the winner of the welterweight unification fight on March 7 at London’s Royal Albert Hall between Lauren Price and Natasha Jonas could head into a big fight against Mikaela Mayer, who Jonas edged via controversial split decision last January.

Be amazed if this happens, Whittaker will be steered well clear.

Reading between the lines, the rival promoters want to put it on themselves, hopefully this won't mean that it doesn't happen.
Johnny Nelson mentioned that with David Haye, the young prospect, the amateur star, he could swerve the CAT and it didn't have an impact on his career.
Whereas the CAT was left waiting.
Cameron hasn't got time on his side, and the other options he has prob aren't as good.
So might be an idea for Cameron to take the fight, take the payday, and he might well win.
Be nothing worse than a year on the sideline, or losing a domestic title fight(where he is still the opponent) and then back to the small halls.
Even a loss to Whittaker would mean a fight back for the British title

No disrespect meant to Cameron, but if the much hyped Whittaker can't get past him, then he has no right getting a simple padded route to a world title.
Whatever the outcome, I hope Cameron profits from all of this.

He's also extremely tough, an ex amateur standout and it's highly unlikely Ben will get the highlight reel knockout he needs to get back on track. A few knockovers will get the casuals going again.

Either way he owes Liam .
Might have been the wake up call he needed to stop the arsing about, might not too.
He's clearly a talented lad with quick hands , not sure about the power because he doesn't sit down on his punches .
I just hope Liam does ok out of it and it gets made , certainly got lots media exposure but on the night he was done wrong by .

Doubt it will happen ,take away his confidence , the show boating stops , the speed goes, and he's just not the same , and Cameron took his confidence once, he'll do it easier next time , whats more they know it, so expect excuses blaming promoters , low ball offers , demanding options , anything has long has it don.t happen

Has FW signed him to be a bat to beat Benji with? Or to fast track him into a vacant WBO interim shot? Or as an opponent in a British title shot, or for an intercontinental belt?
When big money is there, you have to take it.
And he might well beat Whittaker if they fight soon.

Callum Simpson has called out Cameron. No doubt Boxxer put him up to it.

I'd be surprised if Benji wants his man to fight Cameron.
More likely to get Whittaker some confidence boosters, then offer Cameron a short notice fight after the FW contract has expired

Boxxer needs top of the bill fights.
This would be great for them, you could sell the Simpson fight on Cameron's name, and if Simpson wins you get out of the rematch.

Ben definitely wants that fight. All team Simpson does. It’s a fight they’ve wanted for a while.

There’s not a lot that Frank can do with Cameron. He’s in his mid-30’s & is only ever going to the B side in a big fight.
Frank might not like it but if he wants a big fight for Cameron he has to go through Shalom. His only real options are Whittaker or Simpson.

Not so sure , how much has Shalom got invested in Whittaker , to re coup Whittaker has to avenge himself , facts are he's a confidence fighter he likes to bully , when he could'nt do it he literaly shat it and gave up , he panicked ,got worried and quit , if he wants to get his lost fan base back , he really has to fight and BEAT Liam ,, Ben through his arrogance shove the nose in the dirt of his outmatched opponets alianeted lots of fans , and its like ALI said Its not bragging if you can do it .
Whittaker done the bragging before he shown he can do it ,, and he needs to fix that otherwise he will always be known has a bottle merchant

We’ve seen this play out loads of time before. It seems the obvious rematch to make but if Whittaker has a tune up & then beats some over rated foreign fighter for an international trinket whilst Cameron gets beat by Simpson or by someone at domestic level it’ll be a case of ‘we’ve moved past that level now’ from Whittaker’s team even though they haven’t.
I hope it gets made but I can’t see Shalom putting up the money for that fight before Whittaker shows us he’s improved.
