Don't think they should go for a single promoter, offer the dates out and give the work out on quality

Pick and choose, say they want boxing on such a date and ask promoters what can they put on ?

No need to be exclusive to any promotion.
I really hoped they didn’t after Matchroom left but they did.
Yeh they could have still done a deal with Boxxer, but no need to be exclusive with anyone.
They should be open. Pick and choose.
I mean the top promoters are tied with TV deals anyway.
But the likes of Hennessy, Wasserman etc.
Although I don’t mind having Channel 5 cards as well.

They’ll probably just offer the big PPVs from Turki. The recent PPVs have been available on multiple platforms.
Shalom is an absolutely clueless student gig organiser and it shows. He’s recently served Liam Cameron with a letter before action because of Liam’s tweets.
What a scum bag bully

Using different promoters has been tried before, never works. Promoters rely on a certain amount of security/guarantees from broadcasters so they can sign boxers, plan careers. You can't do anything with a certain amount of financisl backing

I think it worked ok in the 90’s when you had various promoters getting 10+ dates a year on Sky. (At various times Warren/Panix/Matchroom/Hennessy).
Seemed to be a bit of competition and more activity around the British Title scene.

Yeah but that’s when Sky were doing 40 boxing shows a year and fighters weren’t getting paid far more than their commercial worth.
The economics don’t work now.
It will be interesting to see the next 4/5 years at Sky Sports. Subscriber numbers are falling as people can’t afford it/switch to illegal streaming so they’ll almost certainly be looking to cut costs.

Some of those flyweight headliners were getting 5 grand if they were lucky.

The only thing that has changed that has been Saudi money.
Before that hit, you still had British Champions on purses that weren’t huge.
PPV has always been an exception.

Yeah. And often those flyweights headlining were in decent, competitive fights. Munyai brings back memories.

No - it had changed before that. The Saudi stuff has taken it to the next level.

I think some of the flyweights/bantams of the 90’s earned decent money in that Sky era.
Think back to the likes of Nicky and Jason Booth, Napa, Kelly and Culshaw.
In real terms, I reckon their purses were higher than Harris and Butler’s recently.
That British Flyweight title fight was only picked up by DAZN in the week before.
I’d agree that the guys at the higher end may earn better now (Saudi/Dazn) but those below that have less opportunities.
30-40 consistent shows a year, with 12 fights each, allowed boxers to be very active, from prospect level through to Area, National and higher honours.
It seems now we can go weeks without a decent show, then a bumper bill comes along (which of course I love!).
Maybe rose tinted spectacles and I am getting old, but the overall scene seemed healthier in the 90’s.
In addition to the big fights (Hatton & Calzaghe), most Fridays (or Saturdays) you could look forward to seeing a decent British level title fight featuring decent names like Richard Williams, Wayne Alexander, Froch coming through, Damaen Kelly, Howard Eastman, Scott Harrison etc.
You’d get another title fight on the card and watch a couple of prospects on their journey.
