Robin Reid has been nominated to fight Librado Andrade in an IBF eliminator , Reid is No.3 in their ratings, with Librado Andrade rated no.4.

Thw winner gets to face Jeff Lacy.

If Librado Andrade doesn't accept the fight then Reid will fight the next nominated opponent.

I was thinking about this the other day, Reid vs Lacy would be intriguing. I no big fan of Reid and I think Lacy is the much more skilled of the two. However, I think Lacy can run out of patience and show some inexperience if he cannot hurt his man (Sheika). I don't think he will hurt the ironed chinned Reid.

Also, Lacy is definately a little vulnerable, he got badly stunned by both Vanderpol and Sheika - Reid's power is comparable to these.

Styles' make fights, and Lacy vs Reid would be VERY intriguing. I also think Lacy would provide a test, because in recent fights Reid has been dictating the pace of a fight and that pace in notoriously slow - he will have to work hard against Lacy, as hard as he has worked for 6 years - can he still do it.

Very intriguing contest and a very hard fight to call. I'm not Reid fan, but Lacy hasn't shown to me that he is the real deal either.

No, not at all by the look of his record. However, this deadline is pretty short.

Big fight this. Reid is very highly regarded by most of the Americans I speak to, a lot of them are saying he might just be the future of the division if he continues developing. Not seen him myself, but heard good things about him.

His last fight was at Light-Heavyweight, but that was just a 'keep busy' fight and he looked a little soft (for Reid) so I assume his future is still at 168lbs.

Andrade's a huge puncher, and he's done a great job against the mid-level competition. I'm not sure if Reid is the next best step for him. If the fight occurs, I'd be shocked if it doesn't happen here in the U.S. since Andrade is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions.

Sorry meant Andrade. A lot of the guys at max have been bigging him up as the next big thing in the division after Lacy.

Well, he can forget power vs Reid. I haven't seen Andrade, but if he is well regarded over there then he may be able to outbox Reid, who will likely be frustratingly pedestrian, again.

Or, it could be an 'experience over hype' win for Reid, probably by counter right hand.

Seems like eons ago since Reid participated in meaningful competition. How long have we watched him languishing in sports halls in WBF contests against south american plumbers etc??

I liked Reid against Ottke until he lost his will power due to the raping (sans lubricant) he was recieving from one of the most crooked refs i've ever seen.

I'd like Reid to go overseas & take this one. About time he hung with the big boys & made his old rival Calzaghe look like a mug hiding out in his backyard.

Reid doesnt have the workrate to compete at the top level these days.

Surely boxing Ottke for the IBF/WBA belts counts as meaningful as does, presumably but to a lesser extent, fighting Magee an unbeaten contender in his own backyard.

If Andrade is a predictable. walk forward puncher he'll be made for Reid. But against Magee, despite winning, he looked a shadow of his former self.

Reid has looked like he hasn't been in top shape for recent fights, I don't know if that's just his age, but he doesn't look as muscular as he once did. I wonder whether he can

We all saw how Clinton Woods just made a monkey out of another supposed big punching star of the future in Hoye, Reid will be by far the more experienced man in this one.

Have Andrade's people accepted the fight yet though? I've not heard anything.

I think Reid can win this one. Andrade hasn't faced anyone of note yet and I don't think Reid is shot. He doesn't do well against a fellow counterpuncher like Magee, but from what I hear, that isn't Andrade's style.

Reid loves the nightlife.

It's weird, Reid fought Julio Cesar Vasquez a couple of years ago, a tough former world champ who had pummeled a young Winky Wright and had some other notable wins. Vasquez was past it of course, but in that fight Reid looked really sharp and dangerous. The right hand looked lethal even that short time ago. He follows this up with another good performance against the decent Francisco Mora, flooring the iron chinned Mora with another great right hand. Layoff. Then onto a keep busy fight in germany to publicise himself for Ottke. A BRUTAL right hand to end this one, though he looked rusty.

Then, he takes 6 months off and TOTALLY loses the sharpness and timing that he had shown in those small hall WBF fights. That 6 months, I have come to believe, RUINED Reid's career, I don't know what he was doing during that time period, but it destroyed him as a fighter. He comes back and has two tune ups before facing Ottke. He looks laborious, slow, and lethargic. OK, it may be ring rust. So the next fight he looks the same vs Adamovich, a guy easy to look good against as demonstrated by Froch. Then the Ottke fight, which despite getting screwed over and winning the fight, he STILL DOESN'T LOOK LIKE THE FIGHTER OF 2 YEARS BEFORE!

Comes back against Brian Magee looking worse yet.

That layoff has cost Reid bigtime, and now he is shot, IMO.

Shot is the wrong word I feel, I think it is more likely that he has not been putting the training in. I disagree about the Ottke fight, if he wasn't looking sharp, how come he was countering Ottke at will for the 1st 6 rounds. Admittedly he looked poor in his previous fight.

I think perhaps Reid is struggling for motivation and is therefore not putting the training in. Who knows. After the Ottke fiasco, it's easy to understand getting cheesed off. I know he looked piss poor against Magee, but that could be the clash of styles.
