Canelo Alvarez vs. Jake Paul - May 2025

Canelo Alvarez vs Jake Paul reportedly agreed for May
Before facing Terence Crawford in September, Canelo Alvarez could square off with influencer Jake Paul in May
Though he’d reportedly secured a September date with Terence Crawford, Canelo Alvarez has yet to reveal a dance partner for his traditional Cinco de Mayo weekend bout. IBF champion William Scull and undefeated contender Christian Mbilli emerged as likely candidates, but Julius Julianis reports that Alvarez has instead struck a deal with Jake Paul.
Paul (11-1, 7 KO) is, of course, coming off an insanely lucrative sideshow against the ancient Mike Tyson in November, which followed a thorough drubbing of MMA veteran turned bare-knuckle standout Mike Perry in July. He stands no chance against Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KO), who remains among the best pound-for-pound fighters in the game.
I don’t got it in me to be righteously offended. Yes, it’s a moronic, uncompetitive cash grab that no self-respecting commission would sanction. Yes, this means that unified super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez will once again go an entire year without facing a super middleweight contender. I’ve said my piece; my advice is to just take the wins (severe cranial trauma to a terrible human being) where you can get ‘em.

I'm guessing it'll be one of them 10 round tune-up type of bouts, and most definitely at cruiserweight.
I can see Canelo weighing in at 180-185, while Jake Paul trims down to make the 200 lb cruiserweight limit.
If Jake can somehow last at least a full few rounds, while having a few moments of his own, then I think that might actually be more impressive than most of his bouts thus far.
I'm thinking probably Canelo gets him out of there in the 5th or 6th round.
Canelo will be in that ring at only around 70% of himself at best though.
He will obviously look Pudged out/Pudgy.
If Jake were to go the full 10 round distance, then that's Awesome for him, even if Canelo is fighting at 190 or thereabouts, and looking slow and lethargic, alot like Roberto Duran was in that 1979, 10 rounder, versus the midwest trail-horse Jimmy Heiar.
I could see that happening and therefore I wouldn't be Shocked.

How long would Tommy Fury (Pauls loss) last against Canelo?
3 rds at most I reckon.

yes, I think the poll is a bit silly.
Should be
1) A round
2) 2-3 rounds
3) 4 rounds or more but stopped.
4) Goes the full 10 distane(likely 8?)

Canelo gunna massacre Paul’s liver…
I hope it’s at heavyweight. Only way to make it even a little bit interesting.
Paul on roids and 50lb heavier than canelo is at least a tiny bit fun until Paul gets KO’d.

And to be honest, even that would be completely not interesting at all. I wouldn't let Canelo pay me $100 to watch that fight.

- Get a Grip.
Usyk and Wilder ain't gonna train down to dehydrate to 200lbs.
Canelo vs Paul huge $$$$$ could be made at a catch of 190 which would be Canelo's limit unless he wants to be a pudgy 200lb fighter vs the rest.
Canelo vs Bena for the interim WBC or whatever 174lb title the WBC make up is also a huge fight because of the Mexican crossover.
Doubt Canelo will ever humiliate himself at 174 again save for Bena which is potentially a winnable fight for him. Absent Bena and Paul, there's not single big fight for Canelo unless l'l floydy comes out of retirement from exhibitions.

Honestly Canelo could be 180 pounds while Paul is 225 or so, and it makes no difference. Canelo is gonna dominate him with ease.
If there's no weight advantage for Paul he probably won't even be able to last 2 minutes.

TBF you gotta love Jake Paul - vile tho' he is.
If he talks his way into a $100m mega-fight vs Canelo....?!
He's a brave, stupid genius and he'll deserve every penny.
Canelo in 2 - he'll take his time and work him out a bit - to get the 'Khan style' one punch super KO
