Jay Harris retires

Jay Harris has retired, despite being on a good run and holding British & Commonwealth titles (possibly European too?).
He says he's fed up with waiting for a fight or being offered terrible purses.
Shame none of the bigger promoters have shown much interest in Welsh shows in recent times.
Quality fighter, brave as fornicate against Martinez too.

Good fighter, good career
Harris can look back at his career with pride. What separates him from a fair few boxers of more modern times is he can actually refer to championship bouts that mean something.

“I write this with a heavy heart to say that I am retiring from boxing,” he posted on social media. “After being out for a year, I think the decision has been made for me. Winning back my titles inspired me to carry on in the hope of maybe getting another shot at a world title, but unfortunately, it wasn’t to be. I’ve been offered fights for money that’s been insulting and going backwards to selling tickets to boost my purse.
“The past year, I’ve enjoyed some great family time without the stress of making weight. The thought of making 8st now was turning me sick.”

Went the difference with Bam Rodriguez.
Anyone who does that can retire proud.

Quality fighter, nice guy, nice family, his dad was British champ too.
Boxing being boxing he will probably get offered something now at short notice.
Criminal that he wasn't given more opportunity, an exciting fighter, deserved to make retirement money

Still European and British champ Harris, surely he could've got some sort of opportunity, put in a sterling effort against prime Martinez , pretty sure he was a Commonwealth champ as well, can't say fairer than that

People on here were telling me a couple of weeks back that Flyweights were now getting the money and exposure they finally deserve as the sport has changed.
As I said at the time, I doubt contemporary domestic Flyweights are getting more in real terms than the Booths, Kelly’s and Culshaws of the 90’s when Sky ran weekly shows.
