Richard Torrez Jnr-Guido Vianello set for April 5 in Las Vegas
Heavyweights Richard Torrez Jnr and Guido Vianello will fight on ESPN+ on April 5, according to Top Rank.
The bout is scheduled for 10 rounds and will take place at the Pearl Concert Theater at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. The undercard is yet to be announced.
Torrez, a silver medalist in the 2020/2021 Olympics, is undefeated in the professional ranks at 12-0 (11 KOs). He fought four times in 2024 and recorded three stoppage wins and one win via disqualification, when Joey Dawejko spit out his mouthpiece too many times.
“This is something I've been working toward for a long time,” Torrez, who is from Tulare, California, said in a press release. “I want to prove that I’m the best heavyweight out there and show what American heavyweights are made of. When they offered me Guido, I didn’t hesitate. I’m ready to go.”
Vianello, 13-2-1 (11 KOs), is coming off an eighth-round stoppage of Arslanbek Makhmudov in August. Prior to that, Vianello lost a narrow decision to Efe Ajagba last April, in which he badly hurt Ajagba in the second round and looked momentarily on the precipice of a stoppage, or pushing Ajagba out of the ring entirely. Ajagba is now lined up to fight Martin Bakole in an IBF title eliminator, likely in May.
That is a position Vianello would like to be in.
“After fighting Makhmudov, I showed I was ready for anyone,” Vianello, an Italian fighting out of Las Vegas, said in a press release. “Richard is a talented young fighter, but he has never faced anyone like me. I will show myself to be Top Rank’s best heavyweight and move on to challenge for world titles.”

Just saw this this morning and came over to post.
I like this fight. I really like Torrez, but there's a few things about him that make me question how far he'll go. If he beats Vianello at this stage, he'll answer those questions. I thought Guido beat Efe, but even with the official result he proved his world standing.
I like fights like this, and it's the first prospect fight at HW I've been excited about for a little while.

Great fight and I am happy to see a prospect step up befor 30….. buttttt, I think torrez could of used an inbetween level step up first, Mabey Goodal (or similar)
Torrez slight fav for me, but a gamble.

Great fight. If Guido wins he gets a profile fight with a decent payday whereas if Torrez wins, it's onwards & upwards.

Abdullah Mason vs Giovanni Cabrera rounds out Torrez vs Vianello on April 5th
Abdullah Mason will meet tricky veteran Giovanni Cabrera in his second fight of 2025
Earlier this month, TOp Rank quietly announced that Tokyo silver medalist Richard Torrez Jr would headline an April 5th ESPN+ show at Palms Casino Resort opposite fellow Olympian Guido Vianello. They’ve now announced that, in addition to the previously revealed super lightweight showdown between Lindolfo Delgado and Elvis Rodriguez, the card will see blue-chip lightweight prospect Abdullah Mason take on Giovanni Cabrera.
Mason (17-0, 15 KO) had to get off the canvas twice to beat Yohan Vasquez in last November’s shootout, but bounced back nicely against Manuel Jaimes two weeks ago, stopping him in the fourth while up 30-25 on all three scorecards. Cabrera (22-2, 7 KO) is his stiffest test on paper; while he had nothing for William Zepeda last July, he came within a round of upsetting “Pitbull” Cruz two fights prior and has the sort of tricky, frustrating style that could give Mason pause.
“I’ve overcome every challenge that’s come my way,” Lindolfo Delgado said. “April 5 will be no different. Elvis Rodríguez is tough, but beating him puts me in the world title conversation. I promise to put on a great performance and bring a huge win home for Mexico.”
“I’m motivated for this fight, which is why I’m working harder than ever,” Elvis Rodriguez said. “I know this is the kind of fight that can change the course of my career and put me where I want to be. That’s why, on April 5, we’ll make the most of this opportunity and walk away with my hand raised. I know what my opponent brings to the table, but I also know I have what it takes to walk away with the win.”
“In 2025, I want all the smoke,” Abdullah Mason said. “I respect Giovanni Cabrera for accepting the fight, but he’s the next one on my way to the world championship. I look forward to making a statement on April 5 at The Palms in Las Vegas.”

Oh wow, Mason v Cabrera is a fantastic fight. They're really pushing the kid.
Cabrera is a very good boxer once he gets into his groove. This is a great test.

Albert Gonzalez, Steven Navarro added to Richard Torrez Jnr-Guido Vianello
Several undefeated prospects have been added to the April 5 show in Las Vegas featuring heavyweight prospect Richard Torrez Jnr taking on Guido Vianello in the main event, junior welterweight prospect Lindolfo Delgado facing Elvis Rodriguez in the co-feature and lightweight prospect Abdullah Mason fighting Giovanni Cabrera on the undercard.
Among those also fighting at the Pearl Concert Theater at the Palms Casino Resort will be featherweight Albert Gonzalez and junior bantamweight Steven Navarro. The show will stream on ESPN+.
Gonzalez, 12-0 (7 KOs), will take on Dana Coolwell, 13-3 (8 KOs), in an eight-round bout. Gonzalez, a 22-year-old from Southern California, fought five times in 2024, winning four by knockout and then outpointing the 12-6-1 Gerardo Antonio Perez in December. Coolwell, a 26-year-old from Australia, was shut out by featherweight contender Bruce Carrington in November.
Navarro, 5-0 (4 KOs), will face Juan Esteban Garcia, 14-1-2 (11 KOs), in an eight-round bout. Navarro, a 20-year-old from Los Angeles, turned pro in April 2024. He is coming off a second-round stoppage of the 7-1 Gabriel Bernardi Cruz in December. Garcia, a 27-year-old from Mexico, suffered his lone loss in late 2023, dropping a unanimous decision to the 11-6-1 Luis Cerrito Hernandez. Garcia has won three straight since.
Also scheduled for the undercard:
In a 10-round middleweight bout, Jahi Tucker, 13-1-1 (6 KOs) vs. Troy Williamson, 20-3-1 (14 KOs).
In a six-round welterweight bout, Art Barrera Jnr, 7-0 (5 KOs) vs. TBA.
In an eight-round junior lightweight bout, DJ Zamora, 15-0 (10 KOs) vs. Hugo Castaneda, 15-1-1 (11 KOs).
And in a four-round junior welterweight bout, debuting Sammy Contreras Jnr vs. TBA.

Fresh undercard, my heart is on Guido but Torrez's storming could be more than he can handle.

ABDULLAH MASON VS. CARLOS ORNELAS FINALIZED FOR TORREZ-VIANELLO CARD
Abdullah Mason will now face Mexican southpaw Carlos "Chinito" Ornelas in a 10-round special feature on Saturday, April 5, at Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
Ornelas replaces Giovanni Cabrera, who withdrew from the bout due to injury.
Mason-Ornelas is part of a loaded card headlined by the 10-round main event between rising heavyweights Richard Torrez Jr. and Guido Vianello. Junior welterweight standouts Lindolfo Delgado and Elvis Rodriguez will meet in a high-stakes co-feature scheduled for 10 rounds. The entire Torrez-Vianello card will stream live and exclusively in the U.S. on ESPN+.
Mason (17-0, 15 KOs), who turns 21 on fight day, enters his first scheduled 10-rounder riding a wave of momentum. He knocked out Manuel Jaimes in four rounds in February on the Denys Berinchyk-Keyshawn Davis bill in New York City. Mason went 5-0 with five early stoppages in 2024 and ascended from a promising prospect to a wunderkind contender.
Ornelas (28-4, 15 KOs) is the most battle-tested foe of Mason's pro career, a 30-year-old with extensive experience against established Mexican opposition. He has won three fights since losing a 10-round decision to Rafael Espinoza in January 2021. Ornelas is coming off a December 2023 decision win over David Moreno Potrero, who entered that bout with a 16-0-1 record.

It'll probably come down to who can take the others punches. Torrez maybe quick, with Guido, slightly more power.
Either way, a good fight.

I think Dicky Torrez is a banger. You saying he's not?

No, I am not saying that.
Obviously he can punch. He can punch faster ie he is quicker, was my point and that can be the difference.

torrez is a physically strong bruiser type, not a ko shot banger (any illusion of this is opposition related) but more of a maul em inside and break em down type
guido not really a big puncher, but he did sting both efe and mak, and can box and move pretty well when he's on his game. if torrez gets sloppy he can make him pay
i do think torrez prob mauls him enough for a decision, will be a good result if he can stop em. good fight though, you wouldnt really be shocked if guido got an upset or at least posed some real adversity
