Marcos Maidana recovering after serious motorcycle accident



Former world champion Marcos Maidana is recovering after being involved in a serious accident with another vehicle.

Maidana was riding his high-powered motorcycle when he collided with a small carer and ended up in a field. His team was on hand to help as Maidana felt the full force of the blow but was immediately able to move.

A video of the incident, obtained by World Boxing News, shows Maidana lying down, obviously shaken by the incident, as people around him try to help. A maroon car was smashed up at the front end, while Maidana’s bike was totaled.

Chino Promotions released a statement a short time later. They said, “Marcos “Chino” Maidana emerged unharmed from today’s serious accident. We thank all the fans and personalities around the world who sent their strength in this moment. Thank you all!”



The Argentinian is famous for going 24 rounds with Floyd Mayweather in 2014, one of only two boxers to have earned a rematch with the ex-Pound for Pound King. In the first fight in May, Maidana hurt Mayweather, and some believed he got the decision. President Trump, who wasn’t in the White House then, famously tweeted that the decision was wrong to go in Mayweather’s favor.

Five months later, they fought again, with Mayweather dominating in his usual style. Shockingly, Maidana decided to cash in his chips after the rematch and never fought again. He reported banked $10 million from the Mayweather double and got out with all his faculties intact.

Maidana has since become a promoter and has been linked to making several exhibition comebacks during his time away from the ring. WBN wishes him well.

Glad to hear he's doing alright. He was one of my favorite fighters of his era. Looks like he's gotten back into shape too.

Motorcycles should be banned from most roadways, imo.

I'm no motorbike hater. Had a couple of nice dirt bikes back in the day.

I'm also in Really Strong favor of having Much More trails and land acreage in general, that is available for dirt bike riders.

They(The dirt bike trailways) could basically run alongside all the bicycle paved pathways.

I'm also in strong favor of dirt bike riders having much more leniency amongst law enforcement, traffic laws, ordinances, etc.

I'm referring to short perimeter zone area riding, where you're only briefly riding on a main roadway, because you're switching the bike onto another trailway area for instance.

But yeah, big fast motorbikes zooming along on highways and such, and especially where there are an abundance of darting deer(Doe running from a Buck), and often darting across a 50-55 mph traffic area. This in itself would be such a mental obstacle for myself if I rode motorcycles.
Trailways would be so much more practical and safe for motorbike riders, and obviously everyone would be riding motorbikes made for that specific type of terrain.
ATV riders could join in as well since not everyone can ride on 2 wheels.

I don't remember FMJ "dominating" Maidana in the rematch by any stretch of the imagination. I think Marquez was the last guy FMJ "dominated" in a fight.

- - Since you don't say what grade you're in, I'm assuming your young, dumb, and full of the confusion of your years.

Never had a dirt bike, but I'm completely conversant on Transportation via my racing bicycle where I routinely exceeded speed limits to pass up most cars/trucks. Then came warehouse to warehouseAtlantic/Pacific/Gulf Big Rig deliveries, so I'm highly experienced.

I consecutively had 3 street Motorcycles. My 2nd one was the fastest production motorcycle made where my buddy and I one summer decided to go visit Rocky Mountain National Park leaving Austin, Tx. I had already started modifications of strip down weight and hop up performance. I averaged 45mpgallon which was triple my mileage from when it was new.

We had to repeatedly pass up 100 big Campers clogging the park rather than inhale their erupting tail pipes where we found a fire road leading up to a mountain top we wanted to camp on. Respectively entering the existing trail, we found a tree canopy to camp under where we made no physical impact on the natural environment other than a small campfire for our steaks that took 2 hours to eat rare. Initially we took a hike around the 14,000' mountain top, but upon returning watched a family of dirt bikers tearing around everywhere, leaving cosmetic damage that takes maybe a century to cover up at 14, 000 foot Altitude. You be kissin' cousins?

I sold my last two for my impending marriage, but eons later I picked up my 4th, a 2024 Kawasaki 650 Ninja that will do 170mph which is modest for motorcycles these day, so I promised my neighbors I'd keep it under 140

This 500 is the same style and color layout as mine.



I pay a road tax like every vehicle registered in Texas, yet my bike is doing no road damage whatsoever in a town featuring 6000lb SUVs, some capable of doing up to 180 mph in between massive 80,000lb Tracker/Trailer Rigs, the kinda stuff you promote as a Carbarian. Thus my local roads are now much rougher and more dangerous than most dirt trails, but this homologated track bike and rider is fully sensitized to making as small of a footprint on our planet as I have done my whole life.

The bad news is you and you ilk will continue to tear up our beautiful planet...c'est la vie...

I'm actually going to be turning 55 years old, this May, Lord Willing. Thanks for the Young and Dumb comment. It's actually more of a compliment for the likes of my old dumb self. I miss being young. Life has become such a depressing struggle as of late. I'm horrible at handling harsh winters anymore.

Yeah, anyway though, I'm very much into bicycle riding. I have 5 bicycles. My favorite is my 1980 Schwinn Sprint 10 speed.
Looking forward to tomorrow, which is supposed to be 50 something degrees, here in wretched ole NY.
I do miss the good ole dirt bike era of the 1980's. There were so many trails to ride on back then. Third-andary farm roadways too. Nowadays nada. No wonder depression is such an epidemic nowadays.
